Dear Community, this is my attempt of playing "Asturias". In this Challenge I only uploaded two pieces..."Jesu bleibet meine Freude" und "Asturias" took so much time.... I am looking forward to the watch-party 😉...

Have a nice time and stay healthy 🍀.https://youtu.be/SNK-UMdsk40

Blaise Laflamme thank you for your kind words. No - I did noch change anything....but I am wondering. I record with OBS and it looks ok - after importing to Imovie it looks horrible......and after uploading to Youtube it looks disgusting....don`t know how to fix that Problem.... 😪

Blaise Laflamme i have forgotten to mention - surely the sound is brighter because of new strings and the Spruce guitar is much more brighter than the cedar guitar ...🎼

  • Chopin Mazurka Op 7 No 2

Well, we are at the end of this challenge, so I wanted to post a complete version of this mazurka I've been working on for maybe about a week. It still needs much more work, but at least I can play it through from beginning to end with reasonable confidence. I had never played anything by Chopin before, so this was (and will continue to be) a learning experience for me. Without this Transcription Challenge, I most likely would not have taken on this piece, so once again, I am so grateful for the TB community.

      Eric Phillips

I think you are on the right track, this is a music that is anything but simple. I love A. Rubistein's version, which is also heard on YT. Very useful for getting suggestions on dynamics and the indispensable "rubato"

  • Chopin Op 35 No 3

Just for fun, I thought I'd play this peppy little tune. I think it might go by another more famous title. Enjoy!

    • Eric Phillips for fun? It’s such a  sad tone to end this challenge with, Eric. But still, beautiful.

Eric Phillips So this challenge definitely killed us. Thanks for the music to celebrate our demise Eric!😜

      Eric Phillips

I am familiar with this composition by Chopin, known as the "Funeral March". It is a very intense and sad song. With all due respect to you Eric, I think this arrangement delivers nothing of the poignant romance of the piano version.

Eric Phillips Don't say I didn't warn you about Chopin.

You know, I think this piece could benefit with a Bossa Nova beat

    • Jack Stewart Great idea, Jack. That would have Chopin rolling in his grave! (I just need to stop, don’t I?)

All right, maybe to lighten the mood after the funeral, here's is a first attempt at playing my arrangement of "Avadim Hayinu" ("We Were Slaves"), a Passover song.

It's definitely very rough around the edges; it's late here and I'm a bit sleepy, but it's probably enough to give you an idea of what it's supposed to sound like. I thought it best to post before the end of the challenge too.

    • Roni Glaser I love this, Roni! Great contrasts of rhythm and texture. Excellent use of silence (love that long pause after the intro). The build up at the end was just awesome! What a great arrangement.

And yes, nothing like slavery to lighten the mood! 😂

Eric Phillips Thanks for listening and for your kind comments Eric!

The playing still needs work to make sure everything's clean enough, and it can get a bit "high energy", so I need to be careful I can play it within my range of tempo. I'm happy enough with the arrangement though.
