Olli I've nothing set for the moment... I'll try to learn some new music and bring back in my head some old stuff! I would like to record some as practice session and at least one for my YT channel.

What!!!! We haven't even laid Bach to rest!
Actually Latin American music is an area that I am sorely deficient, so this will provide an impetus to correct that - at least somewhat. I got some ideas from Ashley's SA Gig pieces Livestream.

Blaise Laflamme I think I've decided to focus on some modern Latin music - so I have found a way to weasel out of the Romantic dilemma.

Blaise Laflamme I hope to present Brouwer's Pieza sin Titulo #2 within a couple of days. I am also reviving his Tres Apuntes #1. I had worked it up several years ago- sort of. I hope to get it to a more polished level. My fantasy is to get to Mario Lavista's Nataranayah. We'll see about that one.

Jack Stewart interesting Brouwer choices, I personally prefer his early years up to El Decameron Negro... I can't wait to hear that!

Alfonso Montes - Preludio de Adios
Surprise! I'm going to submit something early!
When I got home from work today, I started going through my sheet music binder, grabbing Latin American pieces that caught my attention. I just could not wait to get started, so I worked on this beautiful piece until I could play it all the way through.
Alfonso Montes is a Venezuelan guitarist and composer. He wrote this piece as a farewell to his native country as he was forced to leave Venezuela for the foreseeable future. It is full of sadness and beauty.

Eric Phillips Great choice to start this challenge, Eric. This piece is full of deep feelings. In Portuguese, homesickness is "saudade de casa", which may be the main idea that the composer wants to share. I have no doubt that Alfonso would love to hear your interpretation. Bravíssimo!

Eric Phillips what a start, a beautiful piece! I didn't know the piece nor the composer, thank you for sharing that!
Moyses Lopes Listening to this performance makes me exactly the opposite of "saudade de casa", haha!

Martin Thanks, Martin. I had heard it played by Montes, Tavi Jinariu, and Scott Tennant. Very accessible and rewarding.

Eric Phillips That was beautiful, Eric. Thanks for sharing! I know almost nothing about classical music from Latin America (except a few etudes from Leo Brouwer), and I think I will be an audience this month.

Wai Thanks, Wai. You could always play an estudio or two by Brouwer.
