  •  I was sick last week and missed three days of practice but I really wanted to keep up so here is my section two. So here it is warts and all. This means I will be behind for section three but, oh well! 
     

    What I found easy - the inspiration to play because it has really grown on me and playing it is very enjoyable.

     

    What I found difficult- playing pipi,

    playing without looking so you’ll notice I had to memorize a couple of sections that jumped around a bit. I wish I was better at playing without looking but that’s never been my forte. I suppose that’s something I should practice!

      Debbie wonderful! Being inspired to play is the most important thing, without at it would be just a job! When you already found that, nothing's gonna stop you from crushing through that piece! 💪🧙‍♂️ I particularly enjoyed your cross trills, it imprints the piece a unique character!
      When I really need to look at the fret board and the sheet music at the same time, I always try to position my scores in line of sight of my left hand. It's still not ideal, but definitely works 🤓

      Debbie bravo!!! you did great, clean beautiful ornaments. and yes, it is impossible to play the chord part without memorising!

  • I have not been "good student that follows the rules", but I have enjoyed greatly to be in this challenge, though. Liked the idea of look closer part at time in live-lessions (and fro me it is good, that I can go and see afterwards, "was it so or was it on some other way?"  Cool, too to compare always to the original tabulature!  Feel, I have had a lot even if i had looked only the lessons, not even to start practising. But started have I, and this music will I for sure keep "under work", on the music stand or very near it. Longer project, but worth of it, so I feel.  But have been so happy, this music is so joyful to be played with that instrument - nice to have repertoire to it.  When practicing, I have mostly looked for the right sound - or the sound I think should be, and what my new instrument will make possible. Interesting and inspiring - but I have not have produced anything to really post any day.... 

     

    Easy: the style/periode in itself (I play recorder = block flöjt), so it was quite easy to find what I want to play long, what short or "cut" in the melodies (and my soul says: My music, let´s play this!) Easy also was to like more the 8va higher changes in bass lines.  Bit confused, when am so "stuck" to start trills with appogiatura.... but, easier they are technically when started from the main note. 

     

    Difficult: Fingerings. It shows, embrassed, that I have been too stuck in the printed ones - maybe always? But logic I understood (goes so nicely together with the changing how to tongue different patterns when plying recorder) - but to be able to yet follow the "red ones" yet, I need some practice more ;)  Most odd to my hand seems to be pipipi... have I ever played so?   Also campanella I must start to learn from bottom - and play slow.  But it will sound cool, after I can do it...

      Mervi Tirkkonen So glad to hear your feedback! This is our idea of the guided community activities, that we explore some wonderful music together over a longer period of time instead of a singular live event! I am very happy that you gained new insights and inspirations through this challenge!

      So interesting what you are saying about the block flöjt (in German: Blockflöte) phrasing, often we get stuck with the visuals of a modern transcription where the stem beaming just doesn't reflect the musical intention. Glad to see that not only we guitarists have these issues!

      And keep working those campanella scales, they are so much fun! 🧙‍♂️

    I finally got to the end of the piece. I can see that eventually it can roll on! However it is still slow practice and I should need at least another week or two depending on work to attempt any recording. What I found easy this time, the left hand fingerings! Thank you martin those fingerings make the piece very addictive because it flows to one position to the other. Something hard were the fingerings of the Right hand but now it is better, although counter-intuitive to me I see the importance  to keep them even more after the topic of yesterdays' life session... Although sometimes the i m is transformed in m i. Very hard still getting the piece to a right speed. The piece is beautiful and will keep practising it after the challenge
