Well I missed week 2, been away to Filey on the North East coast of the UK - the other side of the North Sea and slightly further north than Heligoland where I think Martin has been. I was hoping to take my guitar but couldn't fit it in so not had much chance to practice.
Here is a rough recording of Maria Louisa by Julio Sagreras. I haven't quite memorised the second section yet as you can probably tell. It's a fairly simple piece but I like it.

Derek thanks for sharing Derek! I read this piece after I found the score for Op 19 where Eric Phillips played the 3rd piece Nostalgia, those are really beautiful.

Derek I hope you had a wonderful vacation. As much as I hate being without my guitar, sometimes it can be good to have a little break.
This is a great little piece. It's not too difficult, but it sounds impressive to any audience, and there is plenty of room to add dramatic flair, as you've done. Good job!

And another piece by Sagreras. This is his study in E minor, number 4 from his book 3. It's not too bad except for near the end where there is a c on the 10th fret of the 4th string using the 3rd finger and an E on the 12th fret of the 1st string using the 4th finger (the previous notes were g - 2nd finger on the 8th fret of the 2nd string and a bar on the seventh fret - so can't think of any other fingering). It's a tricky stretch (for me at least) and the then the run down causes a few problems. (and I've just done my nails and the thumb almost got stuck n the bass notes at the end!)

Derek Both of these pieces are really nice, Derek. You did a good job on your tremolo, something I have never mastered. It's also nice hearing a different tremolo piece.

Derek Nice tremolo study. I have not actually ever played any Sagreras pieces or studies so I might have to check this one out. I need to work on my tremolo so this would be a good one to add to the others that I sometimes read through. BTW, since you like Lauro, you might check out his tremolo study which is the third part of La Catira (Estudio). It may be out of print, so if you cannot find it, let me know and I can email you a copy.

Barrios - Medallón Antiguo (Apr 19 update)
I'm pretty happy with this take. I tried to play it from memory several times, as I tend to be more musical when I do that. Unfortunately, once I hit the record button, my memory suddenly takes a vacation. So after a bunch of takes in which the music just stopped because I forgot what came next, I decided to use the score more. Overall, I'm pretty pleased though. The C section is more legato than it was yesterday.
