Have you heard about the blind heart surgeon?

no but that sounds scary 😵

  • Study 9 update

I might make this my final posting of this study for this challenge (but I reserve the right to change my mind until Monday!).

I pretty much have it memorized by now, only because I've played it so much. There is just one section where I like to peek at the score for a bit of security. I still feel like the right hand harmonics are a bit hit-or-miss, but they're getting better.

Eric Phillips ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! That was so beautiful!!! I have to be honest, I  couldn’t make enough time to keep on working (I was preparing a workshop with Steve about Time Management, oh the irony!), but that was such a joy to listen to! Bravo to you! 🥳🚀🧙‍♂️

  • Добрый вечер to all of you challengers. I practiced a lot on studies 7-10. And that wasn’t easy, but I think I will keep them on my schedule for a while. Really, this is  great material, like the first 6 studies btw.
7: nothing here is really easy, but most difficult: the fast development of the motifs from upper to bass voice and back, changing constantly. I memorized now, but couldn’t yet record…

8 the tremolo is one thing, but the coloring and moving p-mp-mf-f and back needs a lot of attention. it’s a trap to play the thumb part to strong, p tends to predominate, I understand the tremolo should lead, that’s what I’m now working at. The faster second part, is quite demanding in itself. I really like this part, but to make it a whole with it the tremolo part is …. a challenge.

9 this one is so beautiful, but, playing from the score, there are still a few scary moments.  I really should memorize it  but I couldn’t get myself into this one. Time management issue, sorry, no, I’m on holiday for the first time in 4 years. It’s just a bit too much for now.

10 thank you, Martin for your fingerings. They seem to work well for me. l still have some problems with the R hand fingerings, though, but, playing slowly, it’s getting together. The last part with the descending arpeggios in sixteenths and the scale motifs is so cool, but as a whole this is taking more time than I have within this challenge….

Unfortunately, I have no possibility to make any recordings until next Monday… I hope I can join the watch party session. I enjoyed this challenge a lot, but sorry,  I wasn’t able to join so much. You all have been submitting your unique and really beautiful interpretations of the studies. Very inspiring. Thank you, maestro Koshkin, Martin and Tonebase.

I wish I had more time with this one to get it more secure.  Sorry for the errors in this recording , but had time for only one take ( Life stuff getting in the way.).  This is a nice study with cool "imitation" going on.  Anyway, here is my status on it at this point.
