The second and last (for now) Ponce Prelude Number 6 (12 prelude publication). I started this one before number 1 and I think it may be a bit easier. Still needs a bit of polish!

Derek Ponce is amazing, and you got the spirit! Thank you for both inspired performances!

  • I tried a few takes, can’t seem to get it better. This is such a tricky little piece!

I tried very slow , worked hard on details and shifts, but it does get easier …

joosje That was great, Joosje. It indeed looks like a challenging piece. I didn't know Sojo before this, so I listened to a few of his pieces on YT. His compositions are very good. Thanks for the wonderful introduction.

    • joosje Very nice, Joosje. Good, strong rhythm. The left hand looks quite challenging, with a lot of rocking, expanding and contracting.

joosje Wow, the combination of those quick repeated chords and tricky left hand tiring shifts is a feat.  Great job!  Thanks again for introducing some of us to this unfamiliar music.

joosje I agree. They must call it a challenge for a reason. I mean, you never hear of an Eating Chocolate Cake Challenge.

This one says to play it "as fast as possible". As you all know, I don't play fast music, so this is as fast as I could get it to go while still being reasonably accurate. If you want it faster, change the playback speed to 1.5! 😄

This study is not really my musical cup of tea, but it is fun to play.

Eric Phillips Great start, Eric. As I recall, I started that piece a while back (several years ago) but couldn't make any headway with it. You have it under you fingers.

Eric Phillips It always amazes me that how such a little piece can be so deep and contain so much colour in it, and you played it very well. Bravo!

  • To relax after the stressful recording of Sojo’s galeron, I decided to come up with this: another Rodrigo Riera piece, the Serenata Ingenua. A bit less complicated for my tormented LH fingers…

btw, it’s a nice encore to end your concert.

    • joosje I like it, and you played it so well. I'm not familiar with, Rieras. It sounds a bit like Sagreras to me.
