Brouwer - Estudio Sencillo No 6
The next few days will be difficult for me to practice, but I can at least continue to post these studies, as I recorded them earlier.
I still remember when my one-and-only classical guitar teacher showed me this study back around 1991. My first thought? This Brouwer guy stole that from Randy Rhodes, the guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne! My teacher then smiled and pointed to the 1972 date at the bottom.

Osborne' reference is lost on me. I don't really pay attention to the new rock music (pretty much anything after Hendrix). -
Jack Stewart Thanks, Jack. Google "Brouwer Ozzy" and you'll see how the guitarist with Ozzy (Randy Rhodes) ripped off Leo Brouwer's Study 6 for the intro to a song. I heard that he was actually taking some classical guitar lessons, and he liked this study that his teacher gave him, and so he put it into the song.

Moyses Lopes Thanks, Moyses. Randy simplified the arpeggio, and only played a few measures of it. His hair was nicer than mine, though.

For my last post of this incredible challenge, I am posting three short pieces by the Argentine composer/guitarist, Juan Alais (1844 - 1914). These three pieces were written for guitar and arranged/edited by Abel Carlevaro. Juan Alais is thought to have been one of the first (if not the first) Argentine composer who wrote for the classical guitar. As you will hear, his music draws upon traditional Argentine folk music. Since I will be out of town for the next couple of days, I want to say how much I enjoyed this challenge and being able to share with you the music of Abel Carlevaro. I also greatly enjoyed all the great posts and hearing some new as well as familiar wonderful pieces. See you all at the Watch party.
