Welcome to tonebase!
Hey everyone - this is Igor from tonebase !
It's such a pleasure to welcome you as one of the founding members of the tonebase community. Please introduce yourself in a post below with the following format:
- Where are you from and what's your favorite food from there? ;)
- What are you currently working on?
- What are you hoping to get out of this community?
I'll go first:
- While it's hard to pinpoint where exactly I'm from, lol, I just go with Bavaria Germany, and as favorite food, I'd choose Beer (surprise, surprise - closely followed by "Schweinshaxe" - Bavarian Pork-knuckle, which is quite delicious, but sooo heavy that it feels weird calling it favorite food)
- Trying to keep my Aranjuez in the fingers, even though certainly don't have that much time to practice as during college days...
- I hope we can facilitate authentic and interesting discussions around playing, learning, teaching, performing the guitar as well as all adjacent topics like concert prep, professional development, auditioning etc...
Now over to you (after some participation from our tonebase team members!)

Hi David,
Nice to hear from you. Yes in the 70's I took part in a classical guitar competition in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. It was the first ever such competition held there. I won 1st prize playing a duet piece with my friend. Iy was a Carulli piece called Rondo in G.
I was then asked to teach at the Yanaha Music Foundation. I was the 1st guitar instructor there and annually the chief guitar instructor from Japan, Takeshi Koizumi would come to Singapore & Malaysia to teach. I was heavily involved & enthused during that time playing all the popular concert repertoire pieces eg Asturias, Recuerdos de Alhambra, Sonatina etc. Then due to lack of support and motivation I kind of "drifted" away from it. Now I'm as enthused as ever and started polishing my playing. I guess its like riding a bike, over time I hope to get better at it. Tonebase has so much to offer and I'm glad I found it.
Yes, I love playing Madronos and will share that when I get better at it.
Regards
Jeff

Hello, I am Ian from Somerville Massachusetts. My favorite food is probably whatever I am eating at the time.
I have been playing music for along time, but over the last couple yearsI really fell in love with classical guitar. I also enjoy building them.
I am working on learning Some Terraga and also Llobet. I am hoping to be able to play more fluently and learn more.
thanks -
Hello Everyone!
I am from California, born and raised, living in Jack London Square, Oakland for the winter, and up above Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe / the Sierras, in the summer . . .
a lover of learning, curious grateful soul, recently-retired architect :) and other previous careers . . .
celebrating life, deconstructing - expanding the narrative, rekindling my relationship to sound & music, both natural and constructed . . .
signed up for the Life Memberships in Music and Guitar, and considering adding piano, all of which I've dabbled in earlier in this journey . . .
hoping this community will be a place of exchanging supportive educational materials, enhancing insights and motivation . . .
Looking forward to the surprises each moment brings and
getting to know you, as well
Albert
Note: So far the Initial Orientation Videos and PDF's seem, at least, a few years old and outdated with respect to the current website and course format. Any advise and or support appreciated.. Trying to get started with an understanding of hpw best to use the layout and material and progress through the offerings..
