  • I have this old one done a few years ago Prelude from 4th lute suite by S.L. Weiss, I have since heard it done a bit slower. I will probably redo it later in the year.

    • Michael Shirk Lovely, Michael! I do think it would sound better a bit slower.

Michael Shirk Very nicely played Michael.   If this is an older recording, I look forward to seeing a current update to compare and see how it has evolved.  Thanks for posting it!

    Villanos - Gaspar Sanz

At first, I thought I would skip this month's challenge because I was practicing Gaspar Sanz's music recently. But when I opened my email box this morning and saw "Baroque Mini Challenge",  I was so happy and made a quick recording immediately, hope you guys like it.☺️

    • Wai I love that so much, Wai! I think Sanz is the king of the baroque guitar repertoire. His music always makes me feel like I’m a guest at the Royal court. Lovely sound, and well executed trills.

Wai Beautiful Wai!  When I hear this I immediately think of Joaquín Rodrigo's Fantasia para un gentilhombr ( Concierto), which are variations based on this Gaspar Sanz piece.   Love it!!

Wai That is great, Wai. I really like the duet with your cat. I had the same experience as Barney and immediately was reminded of Rodrigo's Gentilhombre Concerto.

Eric Phillips Thanks, Eric. Yes, I totally agree with you, Sanz's music is magical, his music can really bring you back in time to feel the atmosphere of that era (although I don't know what the atmosphere of that era is 😂). For me, the most magical thing is after a few hundred years, his music is being played on the other side of the world by a small potato like me, a true universal heritage!

Barney Jack Stewart Thanks, Barney & Jack! I have never heard of Rodrigo's Gentilhombre Concerto, I will definitely find it on youtube later. Thanks for always introducing great music to me, I would not have known about Sanz's music if I hadn't joined this community, thank you.🎉
