Whether it's the sheet music of a challenging piece, a beloved etude, or perhaps a well-worn method book, your stand is a reflection of your current musical journey. Snap a photo of your music stand setup and share it with the community. Are there any quirky accessories, favorite pencils, or lucky charms that accompany you during practice?

Let's celebrate what you’re practicing, the notes scribbled in the margins, and the marks of a well-practiced passage. Your stand setup might just inspire someone else's practice space makeover!

    • Jack Stewart Thanks Jack, after the previous colour «Gold» video the composer dedicated me an upcoming piece he's about to release next week on a digital album... so great to have more work with a partial capo to play, I'm waiting for the score!!

    • Blaise Laflamme that looks intriguing. Partial capo, that must be quite confusing. 🙄. Looking forward to hearing your recording.

    • joosje surprisingly not that much, I found the tablature below far more confusing so I don't use it. With the partial capo on second fret for string 3, 4 and 5 all the notes are at the same place except you have to translate the open string for them to the second fret. The cool thing is that it opens up a totally new world of possibilities and sounds, really enjoyable!

    • Blaise Laflamme did you make it yourself? (This capo)

    • joosje you mean the capo itself? No I bought it on Amazon it's the Shubb C7B, it covers 5-4-3 or 2-3-4 if you reverse it.

    On my music stand today.

We are leaving in a few hours for a 2 week visit to Japan. Our first time!

We will be back mid April.

Jack Stewart Looks like we're working on the same repertoire, Jack! 😂Enjoy your trip to Japan! And remember, if you tire of seeing all the cherry blossoms, there's always the used guitar market to check out - judging from what I see on eBay, you can pick up an old Yamaha for a song. (Built in the days when they still had reputable luthiers in house.) Of course, getting it home might not be so easy ...

Blaise Laflamme Thanks Blaise. It hasn't been this tidy since I got it. But then I guess that is to be expected.

David Krupka This actually represents the pieces I can play.

Getting it back wouldn't be as big a challenge as getting it back and staying out of the doghouse.

If by 'for a song' you mean singing I doubt I would end up with much.

Steve Price I really like the Lutoslawski. I presented a couple (#1 and #4) in a previous challenge back in 2022.  I don't think I have ever tried the Ponce Preludes. If I have it was back when the music would have been engraved on stone tablets.

    • Jack Stewart Steve Price I really enjoyed Jack's performance of Lutoslawski in a previous challenge, I'm looking forward on yours!

    • Jack Stewart Blaise Laflamme I'll have to look up those up. 1 and 4 are a couple of the ones I've been working on. The Ponce is actually pretty similar to the Lutoslawski I think. Short pieces that are definitely modern and a little challenging at times but accessible overall. Short and a little weird are my primary requirements for music at this point, lol. Enjoy the trip. I spent a lot of time in Asia and loved it, but only a short stay in Japan. You should still be in cherry blossom season I think.

Blaise Laflamme yes I’m now using forscore. It is really a game changer. I convert even those hardcopies into pdf. Best thing is I can create so many layers of fingerings on it.

    • don Absolutely, it was also a game changer to me when I started using an iPad for my musical needs.

  • Hi everyone, great to see everyone’s stands. I’m a beginner. Currently working my way through Giulinani’s Op. 50. 32 Etudes. I use a Korg metronome and I track my practice time across technique, scales, ear training and music in a time tracking app (to keep me honest and motivated and consistent). I also keep a journal and visual timer to track how long I practice per sitting.
