Jay Alan Jay -  I really like the dark Godfather themes from  Godfather II even more than the main theme from the first film.

Lawrence of Arabia. I hope I'll find a guitar arrangement someday.

Ravi I love the music from Lawrence of Arabia.  How do you like the theme played during the magnificent desert rescue scene leading up to and including when the camels cross?

Hi Barney, sorry I don't remember the movie that specific, but I do play the soundtrack in my car often. I would imagine the main theme as a tremolo piece on guitar and other tracks (if perhaps you had the Rescue of Gasim track in mind) more suitable for guitar ensemble.

Barney Nice idea. I know Nemanja Bogunovic to have made arrangements of movie themes.

Ben Fukuda I saw that documentary on Danish television more than 30 years ago and remember how emotional and haunting that melody was often played with the view over young lost lives. It is in major key and written as the goodbye song for the Ashoka’s folk festival, but impressively emotional and haunting. Maybe the feeling is Pavlov reflex hearing the song with sad pictures. BTW it was a splendid documentary from a historical view

  • Black Orpheus! Music by Luis Bonfa (Manha de Carnival) arranged for guitar by Baden Powell, and Antonio Carlos Jobim (Felicidade) arranged for guitar in the incredible masterpiece of Roland Dyens. Moreover, this movie, with its score, Inspired an anthropology student at the University of Hawaii named Ann Dunham to go on a date with an African-American man in her Russian class. Turned out he was not African-American, he was from Kenya, named Barack Obama. They got married, and she gave birth to Barack Hussein Obama Jr. who went on to become one of the most important American leaders in this century. Yes, without Black Orpheus, Barack Hussein Obama might not have been born!

  • William's soundtracks for Star Wars and Jaws are probably the most iconic and so many more.

Moricone for the Good The bad and the ugly and Once upon a time in the west.

Kuberick's choices for The Shining made this one of my favorites also.

All these movies would be so much less without these soundtracks.

  • I have always liked James Horner's music: Field of Dreams, Braveheart, and Legends of the Fall.

And Harry Gregson-Williams, who worked on "Man on Fire," and Hans Zimmer, who is always fantastic.
