  • This gavotte en rondeau is a very tricky piece. I practiced it for these three weeks, but I’m not there yet. The recording situation still makes me nervous and the nerves gave in during the last verse, unfortunately. I cannot make a second take now. It’s such a great piece, I will keep working on it. There’s a lot to say about the ornaments. I had to make a choice, but might change my views later.

    • joosje Beautiful, Joosje! Those verses are very tricky to play. Your playing gives the music a lightness which is perfect for this music.

  • We are at the end of this challenge. A bit short for Bach’s  music. I will continue the work on this suite. Just for the record, I did spend almost all the time I had for music to Bach’s music.  And this is as far as I could come in this short time.
Menuet 1 and 2 in two separate takes.

  • To finalize my contribution to the Bach Challenge the gigue of the incredible set of pieces (violin partita/ lute suite in E major). This one a challenge in itself. I just worked out the fingerings that suit me best in a reasonable gigue tempo.
    Work in progress.

joosje  The flow was really nice and smooth. Among your 6 new videos, I really like this one, sounded lively and joyful.

  • Brava Joosje for posting so many movements from the third violin partita, BWV 1006, also known as the 4th Lute Suite, BWV 1006a.  Very beautiful playing.  As with any of the Bach sonatas, partitas, and suites, the last one in the set is usually the most virtuosic. I used to listen for hours of recordings of John Williams playing this suite on the guitar. Congrats! 👏👏👏

  • I almost forgot to post the bourree, which is also quite tricky. I practiced this one a bit less intensively. It’s not particularly complicated but, as in the 996 suite, to make it sound light and easy is the hardest thing.

joosje This is an amazing collection of pieces, Joosje! The entire BWV 1006a Suite (minus the Prelude which is a monster). You have played them all very well. Even the ones that are 'in progress' are played with grace and feeling. This is very inspiring. Keep it up, I really would like to hear your progress.
