End of the Year Challenge: "Showcase Your Progress!"
Challenge: Share the Pieces You've Mastered This Year!
Who's Invited? All Community Members!
Duration: Now until January 12th!
The Mission: As the year draws to a close, it's the perfect time to reflect on your musical journey. We invite each of you to participate in our "End of the Year Challenge" by showcasing the pieces you have learned and mastered over the year. Whether it's a piece you've polished to perfection or one you've just started feeling comfortable with, we want to see it all! If you don't want to record yourself, show us a video of a piece you plan to take on in the next year!
END OF THE YEAR COMMUNITY CONCERT: Together with our friends from tonebase piano, cello, violin, and flute, we will create an unforgettable event on Dec 18th at 9 am PST!
Watch Party: On January 17 at 11 am PST, we will watch beautiful submissions from this challenge!
How to Participate:
- Select Your Piece(s): Choose one or more pieces that you've learned this year. It could be something you've practiced through our live streams, a personal favorite, or a challenging piece you've conquered.
- Record Your Performance: Film yourself playing your selected piece(s). Quality doesn't have to be professional – it's all about sharing your progress and passion.
- Share Your Journey: Post your video in our community forum under the "End of the Year Challenge" thread. Include a brief write-up about your experience learning the piece – what challenges you faced, how you overcame them, and what this piece means to you.
- Engage with Others: Watch, comment, and encourage your fellow community members. Share your feedback, experiences, and celebrate each other's progress.
Let's Celebrate Our Musical Growth Together!
Remember, this challenge is about celebrating your journey, growth, and the beautiful community we've built together. Every participant, regardless of skill level, is a vital part of this celebration. Let's make these last days of the year resonate with the music we've all worked so hard on!
Join the challenge and let your music shine!

Hi there! I’ve spent a couple of days studying the prelude from the 1st JS Bach Cello suite.
It reminds the times when I first heard Yo Yo Ma playing the original piece for cello many years ago.
For me the most challenging thing is keeping the tempo steady as it usually should be for baroque music. Also dynamics and keeping the tones clean without making any mistake (I have like 3 mistakes in the video, but it is the best I could get so far).
Here it is: https://youtu.be/KIQXLgP-dbo?feature=shared
I hope it counts! Cheers everyone.
