Spanish Music Mini Challenge

We've got an exciting opportunity for all of you guitar aficionados out there! Introducing the Spain Mini Challenge, a celebration of Spanish guitar music that will have us exploring the rich and vibrant sounds of this beautiful country. Inspired by the upcoming recent cross stream by Magdalena Baczewska “A Journey into the world of Spanish Music”, we thought it would be amazing to show them how Spanish music should really sound like, played on the guitar! 
The Challenge:
We invite you to record and upload a video of yourself playing a piece of Spanish guitar music. Share your talent, passion, and skill as we come together to appreciate the diverse and captivating world of Spanish guitar.
How to participate:
Record a video of yourself performing a Spanish guitar piece. Upload your video to your preferred platform (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). Share the link to your video in the comments section below. Feel free to add a brief description of the piece you chose and what makes it special to you.
Bonus Points: Share your favorite recording of an iconic Spanish piece of Music!

Here's my first attempt for this challenge. A Habanera by the 20th Century Majorcan guitarist Bartolome Calatayud. I think I'm in Cala Bona, Majorca :-)

Derek Very good performance Derek, you capture very well the Habanera rhythm......Apart from Flamenco flavored ones, there are many other styles in the Spanish music, like your Habanera.....Cool

Angel Barrios - Tonadilla (Apr 30 update)
Today, I pushed the speed up a bit. I also changed a few of the chord voicings, which I think help the flow of the music. I hope Angel would not disapprove!

Eric Phillips I hesitate to say it keeps getting better Eric as the earlier recordings were very good anyway but I'm still enjoying listening to it. I need to find a little square somewhere with palm trees and a glass of Rioja and your recording - bliss!!

Derek Thanks, Derek. I do enjoy Rioja! Around here, most people drink Californian or Italian wines, so I like to give people Rioja just to be a little different.

ericncharlotte Thanks Eric, I never heard it before......Guajira is a "Flamenco palo" (Flamenco style) influenced by Cuban music.....Yours sound like a genuine Guajira ......Cool

I´m posting here a piece from Julian Arcas, who was a very good guitarrist / composer from the XIX´s second half. He was a virtuoso, who helped Antonio Torres to redefine the Spanish guitar size, shape and internal brazings. Arcas was who discovered Tarrega and fostered his early epoque. Arcas had a very prolific carrer and likewise Tarrega he made many adaptations of famous Operas/pieces to Guitar. This one is a famous Zarzuela adaptation( Zarzuela is the genuine spanish opera with talks and songs, with scripts about the popular life in the XIXs)...I hope you enjoy it

JUAN ALONSO Very nice, Juan! It seems to me that Arcas was one of the earliest Spanish guitarists/composers who had what we now consider the "Spanish sound" to his music.

JUAN ALONSO well done, Juan!. It seems to me that Arcas is not as known as it deserves being one of the fathers of the Spanish guitar in the XIX century. As you mentioned, it is said that Tarrega was deeply shocked when he was a child and listened to Arcas playing and he decided to dedicate his whole life to the guitar.
