Here's the second recording today. My original understanding of the challenge was that we played the music of our own country. Not sure if that's correct or not but my mother in law was Austrian so that's my excuse for including a piece by the early 20th century Austrian composer Alfred Uhl. It's from '10 Pieces for Guitar' dedicated to Karl Scheit. I used to play this many years ago but I've decided to revisit it as a study piece as I think it's useful for practising various techniques.

As in the previous piece, I messed up the end and rerecorded it but this time I don't think you can hear the join :-)

joosje Thanks Joosje. I first played this piece just over 40 years ago! I subsequently re discovered it about 6 or 7 years ago when I was looking for some Viennese pieces to play down at our local guitar club.

  • For this week I do a bit different... about a week ago a french composer, Michel Dalle Ave, dedicated me a nice little piece in the folk/finger style that got published by Oz, I could not resist to quickly record it. Here we go...

Blaise Laflamme Beautiful, Blaise. It is a finger style piece that has that 'composer' quality in the vein of Bensusan or de Grasse (though quite distinct from theirs). Congratulations on the dedication. You have done it very well indeed.

While surfing YT, I came across a video of Edson Lopes playing this piece, and it really struck me. I can't find out anything about the composer. There are several performances of his pieces on YT, but a Google search on his name gives me nothing about him. (There is an actor with the same name, but I suspect they are not one and the same person.) Has anybody heard of him?

According the score (attached), the music is arranged for guitar by Howard Heitmeyer. I don't know the original setting. Maybe it's a song?
