Wow, it's already week 2? Time flies!!

I was practicing Fernando Sor Opus 35 No.2 last week, and in the meantime, I went to buy a Focusrite 2i2, a pair of mics, and a Reaper software, followed everything Martin taught in the recording course, and here is my first video and my first Tonebase community challenge. (The guitar sound is a little bit harsh, sorry, but I will keep practicing :P)

I am going to practice Espanoleta (Theme) this week, hope I will have something to share with the community next week. Thank you, Tonebase and Martin, for teaching us how to record at home.

Wai That's how it's done! Great job. I see you're playing a Cordoba as well. What model is that?

Steve Pederson Thanks for listening. The model of my Cordoba is C10 CD, it's a very bright and responsive guitar, I like it a lot.

  • I started watching several lessons to get knowledge about composers, I never played, so I used the list of links to tonebasetutorials as guide, but there is no way to play such peaces now. I restarted playing Guitar 3 Years ago.... Then I looked after peaces, I played several decades before and took out a flamencoscool of Azpiazu, I followed as a teenager and ...everything is gone. My q-finger so weak, that I cant hear a sound, my a-golpe so uncoordinated....ridiciulous, Im not able to make the movement!!! I took out a flamencotutorial of Gerhard Graf-Martinez, that I bought 20 years ago because I love the typical chords and harmonies and its very good for beginners. I spent some hours with it, and to regain it, I should work on it every day which I cant actually but I  feel so inspired by looking after spanish music. But I wont work on a peace now, because I  still have work with my current peace-Yesterday I simply did etudes out of Carcassis Opus 60, well, I will use the month to just approach spanish guitarmusic again.

Stefanie Mosburger-Dalz thank you! Inspiration is the first step that lights the fire to get you started again! The Carcassi Etudes 60 are fantastic, we did a 30 day challenge around that a while ago!

When getting back into playing it is important to be patient and build up habits that bring you back to the guitar regularly!

  • Aguado - Lesson 40

This is another lesson with a focus on sustaining one voice while other voices move around it. Some of the fingerings are pretty tricky.

After I recorded this, I listened to Segovia's version. He plays it quite a bit slower than I do. I guess he can't keep up with me! 🙂

    • joosje Thanks, Joosje. Derek told me about a recording Segovia made of eight of Aguado's lessons. You can find them on YouTube.

Eric Phillips Nice! Would you call that a "campanula" sound effect - sustaining a voice while others move around it?

    • Steve Pederson Thanks, Steve. Do you mean campanella? If so, no, this is just polyphony. Campanella as I understand it is when the notes of one melody line ring together by playing them on different strings.

If you mention Segovia's name a bit too often he'll be bach!

    • Martin I heard that he wore that outfit (with the gun) at a few of his masterclasses, just to intimidate the students even more. 🙂
