Here is my imitation (only the first part so far) of Carcassi's Etude Op. 60 No 16. For fun, I changed the original key signature (F Major) to D Minor and added some arpeggios. In any case, work is in progress.

    • Marek Tabisz So far, great work with this imitation piece! You used many tools the original provided such as texture, structure, and then put your own twist (minor key, arpeggios.) Keep it coming!

Ashley (Ash) Lucero Thank you Ashley! Here is final (but raw) version. 20 minutes after the completion of writing, it sounds something like this 😉 It remains for me to clear the text and learn it properly 😉 Generally speaking, it was not too difficult, but work-consuming (but I had a lot of fun at the same time).

    • Marek Tabisz thanks for sharing your interpretation 👍

Ashley (Ash) Lucero Thank you for your kind words! I think it would sound better with the 6th string retuned to the D....

    • Etude you are imitating: Giuliani Etude No.1 - at least that how it started out, but then it definitely got lost somewhere!
    • Things you found easy:  This is my first attempt ever at composing anything, so it was very helpful to start by using  some of the ideas in the original etude.
    • Things you found difficult: Staying on track with the structure and characteristics of the original.

Ron looks great! Maybe we'll find more "lost" etudes by other composers? 😄

Absolutely fantastic! In tge beggining it sounds very Giuglianic, then it deviates...Thanks for posting!

    • Ron Fantastic work! I just love how you exchanged the melody between the upper and lower voices, very sophisticated. I also really appreciate that you got "lost" because it adds some flavor, plus to those who didn't write it, it sounds fresh and fitting! More please! :)

Ashley (Ash) Lucero Many thank for your kind words Ashley. I've been wanting to compose for many years but I never knew where to start so this is really exciting for me. Looking forward to the next workshop (provided our internet is working - it went down for an hour in the first workshop!)
