Eric Phillips Great playing Eric! How do you keep so much music at a performable level?

I couldn’t  participate in the challenge until now, but I did practice some of Bach’s incredible and inspiring music.

this was the week of heavenly harmonies, so I motivated  myself to record this one, although it is still quite difficult for me. To keep the pulse in the bass / chords and let the melody flow. Very challenging. Some of the ornaments failed, alas, but I don’t have time for more recording or editing.

    • joosje So lovely, Joosje! You're so right about the harmonies in this music - rich, complex, unpredictable, and so, so beautiful. Wonderful choice!

    Hello Bach Buddies!

Here is my final recording to finish off this magnificent piece. I spent this last week learning the last third of the piece and polishing up the first two sections. There are a few glitches here and there but it's a pretty accurate representation of my progress after the three weeks. A few more slow methodical repetitions of some sections here and there and I should have been able to avoid the glitches but such is the joy of the classical guitar  😉

This challenge meant a lot to me to be able to take a deep dive into working on one piece. I appreciated Sanel Redzic's lesson here on Tonebase. So many great insights. I learned a lot and have the feeling that if I could only play Bach for the rest of my life I'd be content. To me his music is the closest thing to the sublime intelligence and the soul of the universe. I look forward to adding more Bach to my repertoire. I was happy to take this challenge with all of you and look forward to hearing you all play at the watch party!

    • Debbie wow, Debbie, beautifully played. Great sound. But more important  such a good interpretation.  congratulations for this performance. (When I mentioned echo in my previous comment, I didn’t mean reverb, but the way you played the repeated arpeggiated chords) . The ending is also very beautiful. 👏👋👋

Debbie Wonderful job Debbie! So artistic. Loved it. You've inspired me to continue learning this piece after the challenge is over. BTW, I see a dark "spot" on the bottom of the sound hole on your guitar. Is that a microphone?
