Hi to all, one of the pieces I´ve coquered this year is the Carcassi´s study 24th from the opus 60. This collection of melodic progressive studies are a very good collection......study 24 is among the most advanced ones and under my view the most concertistic ( does this word exist in english??) one.....I hope you like it

JUAN ALONSO Great performance, Juan. I have never played Carcassi (at least that I remember). This piece has some wonderful embellished runs which you handles very well. Great job.

Sor Etudes Op. 6.8, op. 31.18 and op. 31.20
These are 3 of 4 Sor Etudes that I will post here. I posted these recently in the Sor mini challenge. My intention for these was to present them in a single recording, however, it was just beyond me to make a decent continuous recording. I find it really difficult to achieve that final refinement in order to perform a piece.
My ambition for this challenge was to revive several works (like 9 - 10
). I figure I would work backwards since the latest ones would still be fresh and need less work to get them to a decent level (
- stop it, you're killing me). Obviously, those objectives will require some serious reconsideration. After I record the next etude. I will move on to the BWV 1009 Prelude. Then we will see.-
Jack Stewart Really nice to hear these pieces. Mainly Sor op31, n20, which I always thought to be boring... But I like your uptempo. Looks like we are in a bull-fight arena, or something like that. This has definitely inspired me to go back to this piece once more (and now seriously).

Jack Stewart Very nice playing, Jack. I really like the Op 31 No. 18 and No. 20. You play No. 18 with a lot of subtlety and really bring out the dark beauty of this gem of a study. You also are playing No. 20 extremely well and with a lot of power. Excellent work on those staccato chord changes. Bravo!

Carlo Martins Thanks, Carlo. I really like op31.20. I agree that it is rather mundane if played very straight but I found it really comes to life when given more punch. It is also fun to play.

Dale Needles Thanks Dale. Op 31.18 has really grown on me. It has a dark tormented soul. Now if I can just keep all of the subtle pattern changes straight, I'll be less tormented.

Jack Stewart Very well played....you extract the best of these etudes, in Op6 the two levels ( bass and trebles ) are clearly and independient......in op31 you achieve a very good pace, and that is not easy in such etude....Congratulations, bravo

Here is the third section of Carlevaro's Estudio No. 3 (Bicordes). Carlevaro designates that this section is to be played "Meno mosso e calmo." Next week I hope to post the fourth section and then try to pull it all together after the first of the year and before the challenge ends. Happy Holidays!
