Week 3: Draft // Apr 5th
Welcome to Week 3! This week we focused on form, setting parameters, and drafting in aims of completing more short pieces.
The assignment for this week is to blueprint (plan) our ideas into whole pieces (arch map, graphic drawing, text) and complete at least 1 rough draft.

I intended to have a go at a piece in 3/4 but decided it was really 6/8 when I completed the draft!
I thought I'd keep it simple - just ABA.
The easy bit? Doing a plan was fairly easy and I came up with several motifs ...
The difficult bit? ... sticking to the plan. I did manage to keep my plan of a minor A section then a major B section, but my original intent was to start with something chordal then move to arpeggios.
It still needs a lot of refinement and possibly another section, but it was fun to write, and I decided to be playful with the harmonies in the B section (I definitely need a lesson on harmony!).

Here is my homework.
Easy: Come up with the first 8 bars - they just "came" to me.
Difficult: the rest ;-). There are so many options. I think it is crucial to limitate ideas. But this is hard. Very often I just dont't know, in which direction to go. I would need more restrictions, I guess. I do not know, where to go next with this peace. In my eyes, I compose a kind of ABA form which just constitutes the first bar of a bigger peace - but how should C etc. be "constructed" :-)

Hi everyone!
Here is my piece for this week. I wrote it in midi and barely touched my guitar. My challenge to myself this week was to be less "guitarry" so I wrote it directly into Sibelius. It was fun. I was trying to be a little more Brouwer-esqe but now sure if I succeeded. I love how he is modern and quirky but still finds the most amazing melodies. I'm not interested in being too avant-garde because I love a good melody. This is a quirky little piece in d minor with some chromaticism. I haven't a clue yet how I will play it on the guitar :)

I think it can develop to a new age piece, like Vangelis style. It doesn't have to be played by guitar, you can choose a nice synthesizer sound. -
