Jack Stewart Thanks Jack. I've had the music for years but never got round to playing it before. I've played no 6 on and off for years. The visuals were a (un)happy accident - if only I could remember how it happened I could copyright the idea :-). Have a Happy New Year, Derek

Blaise Laflamme Hi Blaise. All of this interest reminds me of a very blurry copy of a report that I included in a powerpoint presentation many years ago - that went down in history as well :-)

The recipe is: take a very old laptop, sign in to Zoom and realise that it didn't recognise the built in camera and then plug in a very cheap webcam purchased from Amazon, mix together or a few seconds and frantically flick through the control panel trying to figure it out. One solution is to prepare well in advance and assume that you'd get unexpected visitors that won't leave until 5 minutes before the call!

Have a Happy New Year. Derek

  •  Dear martin : I would like to register for two pieces if time allows. If there is not enough time for two pieces, I would like to play one piece. They are following this priority:

    1. Amor de Saudade (Khiem Nguyen)

    2. Se Ela Perguntar - Dilermando Reis

As Bill Young has pointed out in the other thread, I unofficially registered for a spot for the 29th quite early on, but I failed to register on this official thread here early. I will be very happy if there is a spot for me to play at least a piece for you. Thank you! :) Hehe

    • Jack Stewart thank you so much Jack for your positive feedback! I hope to see you playing live in next community concerts too! I admire the fact that you have great techique playing contra punctual music of Bach, those pieces are very nice to hear, but very difficult for most players to nail down, including me :)

Khiem Nguyen Thank you Khiem! I really appreciate that, and I really loved your performances, and I appreciate that you were so honest about how nervous you were. Martin said that you hid your nervousness well, but that was not the case for me. What made matters worse is that my daughter walked in on my performance during the most difficult part. That was really frustrating as well, but I'm glad I pushed past not feeling well and participated!

    • Steve Pederson Glad you were feeling up to making it and share that arrangement. That's a great one. I really didn't get a sense that you seemed nervous and thought it sounded really good.

Nerves are definitely something I need to learn to deal with. I've played drums and bass in groups, but this was my first solo performance and it's different when it's all you and you start feeling it, lol.

On a side note I found a really good way to play the opening line of my piece with a campanella section based on your suggestion, but knew I needed to keep it simpler for this performance. Maybe I'll stick it in the practice forum when I get a chance.

Congrats, thanks again for your help,  and feel better.

    • Steve Pederson thank you Steve. The great thing was you made it! That was nice, you pushed past not feeling well and played. I was thinking you played well too, like other members have commented; and I could not sense that you were nervous. It seems you and me have a common thing that although we are nervous, the appearance are not easy to spot by audience. Maybe that is a not a bad thing at all and that is just the way it is for us. :) I was having a red, blush face when I am nervous (maybe the video could not show and the redness is also subtle) and also I tend to stare so intensely to the fretboard and dare not to get the sight out of it. Those are not big deals though, I am just sharing my own experience. Get well soon!

Steve Price Thanks so much Steve, and again I really enjoyed your performance. And, like Martin said, I'm so glad you introduced us all to that piece. I'm going to add it to my bucket list!

  • Khiem Nguyen I really enjoyed the piece you wrote and both of your performances at the concert. Congratulations and thanks for sharing those.

Also, I didn't make a connection until the community concert when you said you were performing your own piece, but did you write the Valse No. 1 that Thu Le plays?
