Score for Bach BWV 998

Greetings! I’m a new member from Toronto, Canada. I’m about to start the new track for the Bach 998 Prelude. I’ve searched but can’t find any score on Tonebase for it. Can someone recommend a good edition, perhaps one free of fingerings?

Thanks, Stuart

Hi Stuart - fellow Torontonian and longtime 'tone-buddy' here. Many editions of Bach's 'lute' works arranged for guitar are available. (I'm not aware of any without fingering, though.) One that is widely used is the work of Frank Koonce. A version of BWV998 edited by Stefan Apke is available for free download from IMSLP. I'm surprised that ToneBase didn't produce its own edition for its new 'learning track' - perhaps it's in preparation?

Hi David, thanks for the quick reply, I’ll follow up on those. I thought the same about the lack of score for the learning track. I know it was just released so perhaps it’s coming. I just finished up the learning track for the Villas Lobos prelude #1 and found it excellent.

You’re welcome; I remember one of the lessons where there were also no scores. Some scores are, in many versions, available for free at the internet. Maybe that's the reason.

There is a Tonebase score for this track. It might be that there is a course by Viloteau that is is separate from the Track (though I don't know why that would be.)

    Here is the TB link:

Hi Jack, thanks so much, this is exactly what I was looking for! I think they just added the score for download in the “Track” section. Maybe I jumped on it too soon because it wasn’t there a day ago, at least not that I could see.
