I have a few different places indoors where I practice but recently I have done some practicing outside and this has made me feel more inspired, creative and focused. There is a nice view. Fluctuating weather has been an issue at times and I find that focusing on not being distracted by the weather increases my focus on the music.

    • Immanuel interesting that you practice outside, I've done that a few times here and it indeed brings some inspiration, and for me mostly at playing stage than learning one. Thanks for sharing!

  • I share a room with two cats, who really enjoy cello and classical guitar, my instruments. I have a mirror on the left side of my playing area to keep aware of my body position, bowing angle and such. You can see the reflection of my guitar, a 1946 nylon Martin G-18.

    • Joris Van Daele Nice little packed room, I've also been using a mirror since my early years (a must have!). Thanks for sharing!

I have my guitar studio (which formerly was my wife's dressing room 😢).

    • Bart Versteeg That's for sure a better vocation for this room IMHO, I'm jealous of your room shape with all these angles! Thanks for sharing!

  • Here is my little practice, studio area.  It's may be small but it gives me enough room for what I need.  I know it's a mess.  However, it works for me.  A few months ago it was worst than this.  Someone had to push me to clean it or she was going to do it.

All my offices during my working career were like this.  Even my daughter has said the same.  It's my personality and it works.

  • I am fortunate to have a dedicated practice space in an small room off of my bedroom.  I have a mirror for checking my position along with some small friends to keep me company, and stay all day no matter what mistakes I make😊

  • This is the latest iteration of my practice and recording studio and I tried a lot of things (bad and good) over the last two years (when I started participating here on TB Community) as I was experimenting. I finally opted for a clean and fully treated room because the acoustic was so horrible 😭... I now hear my guitar as it sounds! 💪

Blaise Laflamme That's a very impressive space you have, Blaise! But it's a little TOO tidy ... if mine were even half as organized, I'd be spending all my time cleaning, and none practicing! 😄

    • David Krupka Thanks David, but don't get me wrong... to keep this room tidy I had to sacrifice another one! 😅

Blaise Laflamme I try to do the same - the problem is, eventually you run out of rooms to sacrifice!

    • David Krupka haha... you're so right... luckily my children have left home, I still have 2 more to sacrifice! 😆

  • I have an out of context question, is it better to record in the center of the room?

    Reply Like
    • Giuseppe Gasparini That depends on multiple factors like natural acoustic, room shape/materials/size, reflections, furniture and accessories, etc... but the center in a conventional squarish room is probably one the most dead position, I would try to avoid positioning microphones there.

  • Wow, so many great practice spaces! My reality is that I practice in the kitchen. I have an antique needlepoint chair over 100 years old that I sit in. I always use the same arm sock sleeve....yes its a sock. Sometimes my 100 pound (45 kilos?) dog lies at my feet and one of my pet birds beats a rithm on his metal food dish while I play a practice piece on the guitar. I can't make this stuff up but it is my world and I wouldn't want it any other way.

  • About half of my home office is devoted to my guitar space. Guitars on the wall to me left except for the current one which is in a stand. I sit in an nice office chair with good support with the arms removed. To my left, under the guitars is a small table where my tuner, metronome, microphone, headphones and other 'gadgets' reside. In front of my is my table with a large monitor and stands for my tablet and sheet music.
