WEEK TWO Updates: Main Thread - Where the magic continues!

Alright, welcome to WEEK TWO of the Main Thread for this challenge! 💪

Why is this thread necessary?

Well, with the initial main thread turning into a 500-post behemoth (😵), it became hard to navigate.

This comes at the very end of Week 2. Therefore, very soon, I'll be making a different thread for Week 3! We're almost there, folks, just two more days to go until Week 3! 😎

But Mircea - I hear you say - can we still post in the old thread?

Yes, of course! Feel free to reply to others in the old thread to your heart's content. Just make sure you post any new updates (whether text or video) in this thread instead.

"Oh no, I didn't see this thread, so I posted a new update in the old thread!"

No problem at all! Just tag me (@Mircea) and I'll move your post 😎 These admin powers I got here are actually pretty cool! It turns out I can move individual replies between threads.

Where is the Week 1 thread?

Please use the following format when commenting (feel free to copy & paste!):

  • Etude you worked on:
  • One thing you found easy:
  • One thing you found difficult:
  • (Optional): a video of you performing it!

Sample daily update:

  • Etude you worked on: No. 1
  • One thing you found easy: The polyphony between bass and treble flowed very naturally, I had an easy time playing each line like it belonged to its own voice.
  • One thing you found difficult: I had a hard time creating enough variety throughout the repeated measures.

Feel free to make these updates as short or long as you wish!

Hi everyone. Here´s my last update:

Number 6: easy to sightread. Dificult:  the chord David3, David1 and Mircea mentioned. There´s no way to make it legato. BTW in this spot I was more concerned with the melody in the bass (g-f-e-d) than the high voice.

Number 7: So beautiful! Easy to sightread. Difficult: changing patterns on the right hand. Great job by David Chidsey!

Number 8: I like it very much. It´s catchy. Easy to undrestand ( idiomatic). For me the difficult task is to keep interest after so many repetitons of the main theme.

Number 9: Easy to read. The problem I had here was to decide what voice to highlight in each section of the piece, and then being able to make it work. So many options...

Here is the link for number 9.

Igor Nicely played Igor. I've practiced that one and I would certainly struggle to sight read it well enough to make a recording. Great job.

Derek Thank you, Derek.  Sometimes It´s a nightmare to sight read Sor, with his ability to say the same thing, only changing some notes here and there. It feels like being about to fall on a trap anytime. In fact, I  usually need to record some takes to get something worth listening to🙄

Thank you all for listening, and your kind words.

About playing nicely, I´m looking forward to seeing what Emmanuel Sowicz has to say today about "Emotion Theory". I think his lesson on music grammar was awesome.

Easy to sight read with the familiar ‘key of C’ shapes

Lots of learning from listening back to my recording (which I’ve never done prior to this challenge!) especially maintaining legato.
The notation in simple studies is sparse so concentrated on ‘clean’ playing with slight changes to volume and attack, rather than overdoing rubato!

  • Etude I worked on- Etude 18

One thing I found easy-sight reading through

One thing I found difficult-left hand fingering
