Any ideas for Finger tip nerve pain from healed cut

I severely cut the tip of my LH 2 finger in December. The ER doc put one stitch in through my nail (yeah, I know. All just mmhmm. Yeah was not fun). It healed really well and overall especially when I was still bandaging it wasn't too bad. Then for a while it was quite good. But a scar developed right where the stitch was. Very tiny and if I don't hit that I really don't have pain but man it does when I hit it and it is some times unavoidable. Then the whole tip can get sore. The best thing I found has been moleskin but it doesn't last long and it leaves a really sticky mess after removing and it's a little obtrusive. I got some Rock Tips and it is surprisingly effective. Not as much as I'd like but not bad. Does anyone have any tips about playing comfortably with finger tip nerve pain? I do have an appt. with a hand specialist coming up to see if there is any hope, but I'm prepared for the same kind of shoulder shrugs I got from my GP and my dermatologist.  In which case I am still searching for something that works really well. (PS, I got some of those silicone finger protectors and those just don't help at all. too thin, not enough padding. I think the thicker ones would be too thick to play comfortably.)

Karen Chuplis Hi Karen, I am sorry to hear about the pain you’re experiencing when playing. It’s good that you are already reaching out to medical professionals to get to the bottom of this. Unfortunately, I don’t have any accurate, helpful advice.

I know that the human body can do incredible things with slow and mindful practice; I have seen this with people suffering from knee pain and are back on running marathons. IF (and that is a huge if, because I am not a medical professional) the scar is causing this through an unevenness of your fingertip, you might want to look at scar-reducing creams that get applied over a long period. But again, better leave it to the professional than some random Martin on the Internet :)

I wish you all the best!
