The stage is all yours and with this private livestream we get acquainted with our virtual concert hall!
Answer via a reply to this thread in order to reserve a spot with the piece and its approx. duration. The choice of repertoire is totally up to you! You want to play an etude from some of the last community challenges? A piece you've recently worked on for an interactive class? Or something completely different? Let us know!

What do I need?
We are going to use ZOOM (←click to download) for the tonebase Community Concert. In order to have the best audio quality, you can activate the option to Preserve Original Sound, here you find the documentation on how to activate that. It's best to use headphones with when the Original Audio Option is enabled.

Martin I enjoyed the concert and feel it's very beneficial to get this kind of practice playing "under stress". I really enjoyed watching our other Tonebase friends perform. However, I did not feel relaxed (like playing just for myself in the practice room), and lost concentration at times, along with cold and sweaty hands. I wish I could see a recording of this, to analyze it and to improve upon it...

Olli Yes, you can play both pieces, they sound great and I enjoyed the first one very much! I'm afraid we can't share the scores though when they are copyrighted!

Barney Playing in front of people changes everything, especially when you're the first one in a group (or the last one like Emma and Olli ). We don't record or publicly stream these community concerts (maybe we'll do that in a very special edition, but we'll warn everybody about it, haha), bur maybe you can screen capture it somehow for personal use?

Martin I know if I create the zoom meeting there is a button to record. When you inititate the zoom link, do we see the same "record" button available to use, if we wish?

Barney you played so well! It was a real pleasure to listen to you. I suppose it’s just never the same: to play on your own in the practice room or perform for an audience. And it should not be the same…. There’s always some extra tension, and that’s how it is. Just think (as Steve Goss mentioned) of the audience as the nicest people you know. They all love to listen to you, and a little mistake (or two) does not bother them the least, as long as you intend to play beautifully and continue to take us along in your musical story. Which you did….

joosje Thank you so much for saying that. I really appreciate your opinion, support, and advice, as I value your guitar technique and musicianship. I guess it will take me time and practice getting used to it. Tonebase is a great resource to do just that.

Hello Martin! I am a bit disappointed because I got to be distracted so easily! I should have been more focused to not allow that unexpected noises would get to me so badly. That must happen all the time in real life auditions, and I have to learn from it. I had the piece under control at a slow tempo and my plan for the next two weeks is to practice it at the tempo I like in the concert plus correct a few mistakes I keep making.. That plus record it for my diary, that and the tremolo study. Thank you so much for the opportunity, and special thank you to all the audience who did not play but was there encouraging us.

Emma I loved the contrast between the calm piece and your temper with your kids to be honest, haha
But it is true, a concert is full of distraction, one needs to really shield and immerse themselves into the music, that way you can enjoy it even when you're playing in a crowded restaurant! It's like the Jedi-Mindset of performers 
A Pro-Tip: Try to practice it 20% faster, that way you can truly relax during your performance and know that you still have some headroom! -

Hallo Martin. Yesterday I felt better than the last time. Even during the day I was less nervous that the last time. I have felt very good playing my first piece ,el Villancico, which in fact I had not really sure under my fingers. However run quite good , even with mistakes, I could enjoy playing it.
Unfortunately it was not the same with my favourite Preludio of Villalobos. The right hand began suddenly to shake...imposible to articulate rapid accords or the arpegio of the piu mosso or to stop the sound of chords ...etcetc. I would say was 50% down compare to the practice room. The good thing, and it is very important for me I think, is that I continue playing, I concentrated myself in how should sound and not in how was sounding. I will continue working in these two weeks specially in playing relax....I do not exactly what to do to control my autonomous nervous system...as said...it is autonomous! May be is a matter of confidence for jumping into the music to surf with the notes.

The Prelude by Villa-Lobos can become quite tricky when the hands start shaking, but you managed so well! For the concert it is important to find these micro-spots of relaxation where you can reset your hand again and prevent a build-up of tension in your right hand! You can do it!
