I have been working on this for quite a while. I have the interpretation fairly well mapped out and can (usually) play it fairly smoothly. At least it seems so, but this recording suggests otherwise. I had considerable assist from my dog, Milo. I was going to also record an update to my Weiss fantasia but I think I am on call for dog duty.

That was incredible, Jack! Is that Henri Sauget? I confess I looked the name up. Is it written for guitar? I have never heard of it. Pulling that off is quite an accomplishment! Milo tried to steal the show, but my eyes and ears were focused on your playing.

Eric Phillips Thanks Eric. This was a piece I wanted to submit for the master class. While recording Milo was insistent on my attention. I tried to concentrate but when he dropped his ball at the dramatic pause at the end I just lost it.
Even though the performance is pretty rough I really wanted to share it. The recording has shown some areas I need to work on so I will present a new recording after I address those issues.

Blaise Laflamme Thanks Blaise This was in an anthology of 20th Century pieces for guitar that had many interesting pieces including Poulenc, Auric, Malipiero, Rodrigo and others. Many were commissioned for the anthology. I don't think the anthology (Antologia Per Chitarra, Ricordi) is still in print. The Sauguet, Auric and Poulenc as well as many other works are in a new Anthology of 20th C French guitar Music (Eschig) edited by F. Zigante. Incidentally Sauguet has many works for guitar, though I think this is the best one.

Jack Stewart Well done, Jack! I remember coming across that (or a very similar) anthology in my local library. I didn't borrow it - I lack any affinity for playing that repertoire, although I do enjoy listening to it. Regarding the interaction with Milo, I'm reminded of a video with David Russell where he actually recommends preparing for the stage with distractions (even severe ones, like having your instrument interfered with) on the grounds that these things invariably happen from time to time in live performance and one needs to be ready for them!
