Concierto de Aranjuez: First Movement - Allegro con Spirito (May 5) Questions / Suggestions

My friends, it's happening! 🤩 you requested it, and so we turned it into a reality! 🎉

In my previous Aranjuez livestream, I performed a general overview of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. In it, I asked you whether you would prefer if I did three livestreams instead: one for each movement.

You said yes, aaand so here we are! We are going to kick off this series with the First Movement (Allegro con Spirito), starting this coming Wednesday, May 5th!

The second movement will be addressed sometime in June, and the third in July.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of you there! 😎

I am referring to the Angel Romero version page/line numbers in the following comments:

    1.  Please incdicate on the melody lines when to use Free Stroke vs. Apoyando.

2 .Review Phrasing and accents to coordinate best with the orchestra.

    3.  please cover suggested Articulation ( Staccato, Legato), and color considerations.

    4.  Provide alternate fingerings on all scale passages (when needed) vs. Angel's fingerings.

    5.  On page3,Line6, the three E major chords and scales passage, do you play the full E chord with the scale, or only the Low "E" note (6th string) when playing the runs?

    6. Page 4, Line 3, 2nd measure:  After the A minor chord Rasgueados, how is the chord in III position (low A, G, B D) to be played with RH---as Block chord, or use thumb?

    7.  Page 8, Line 1:  What Rasgueado Pattern (and RH fingers) to use for  sequence VII - V - VII, etc?

Thanks!!!  I look forward to this livestream!!!

Barney wow, thanks for the detailed list of suggestions, Barney! I will do my best to cover most of these.

I will probably not get to all of point 4, since there are so many little differences between Angel Romero's version and the fingerings I play, but most of his are perfectly valid, too!

On point 2, I do apoyando basically anytime I have alternating i, m scales. If there is a p in a scale, I play that free stroke, while reverting to apoyando for any subsequent i, m.

I also do apoyando a, m, i in the fast triplet passages in the first movement. Everything else, I play free stroke, pretty much.
