Welcome to the Main Thread for the third week of "Song and Dance" practice challenge!

Choose a piece that is inspired or transcribed from a song or a dance. It could be a lively south-american danza, a passionate tango, a serene romantic lied, or a poignant aria transcribed for the guitar. You're welcome to explore pieces from unfamiliar composers or challenge yourself with a complex work. 🎼
Commit to daily practice and share your journey with the community. Aim to practice every day and upload at least two videos each week to illustrate your progress. This will not only help you stay committed and encouraged but will also allow you to share your musical voyage with our tonebase family. 🎥

Danza Brasilera is a lot of fun to play, once you do the hard rhythm work. I met Jorge Morel after a concert in Carmel in 1974 and bought my copy of Virtuoso South American Guitar from him. I've recently enjoyed working on this--more speed may come, but I'm just going to relax into it.

  Marilyn Blodget Beautiful playing this fun piece by Morel. Jorge Morel is very much missed for his artistry and creativity. I've seen him perform live several times at the New York Society of Classical Guitar many years ago. I had front row seats , and recall his warm personality as well.

Rameau Allemande II 1706

This is the probably the final version of this piece for this challenge. It still needs refinement but it is mostly pretty good. The tone and phrasing are where I really need to focus now, but I will be devoting the next 2 weeks to other pieces.

  Blaise Laflamme Yes, I use Musescore. The ornamentation symbols are not technically accurate. I just used them to approximate what I wanted, and could, do., based on how they sounded in Musescore.
  
  BTW I could probably create the score w/o fingering, (assuming it is a 'global' operation vs removing them individually.)

  Jack Stewart nice, in Rameau's transcriptions duet I've done in the past I've mostly used the «mordant» symbol as used in the original score and then first listened to some good harpsichordist to understand more about the way the french ornament style was done.

  Blaise Laflamme As I understand Baroque ornamentation, the reverse mordent is more common. I think the practice is to trill 'down' (starting any trill on the upper note). At least that is what I have understood. I have made some effort to understand baroque ornamentation, but mostly I use my own sense of taste, referencing performers, (guitar, lute, keyboard). Ultimately my approach is not really 'learned' rather, perhaps, informed intuition.
  
  With that in mind, take my observations with a grain of salt.🙂 Also, this is a lot of discussion for me on a first cup of coffee.😯

  I am considering it as an 'alternative'. I also felt I was close to having it at an acceptable level so that I wanted to try to 'finish' it. It is not really finished but I intend to maintain it while I focus on BWV996 Courante , Mompou (both Cancion and Danza - which I hope to post today), and the Chopin.
