  • Sor - Op 44 No 13-15

Yesterday and today, I recorded a few studies for my Summer of Sor Studies on YT, so I thought I'd post them here. Before this summer, I hadn't played much from Op 44, but I'm finding it very enjoyable. I've now recorded over half of the entire collection, so at some point, I might just finish it to say I've done them all.

    Chopin op. 33.1 Mazurka Update

This is cleaner and improved interpretation of this Mazurka. I find this piece pretty difficult because it is so sparse. The second section is the biggest challenge for me, especially the large (octave) leaps.

    • Jack Stewart I had never heard that before, but I love it! Who did the transcription? Very effective!

Eric Phillips  I had a small collection of music that included this piece (different transcription). I found a recording of it on piano and loved it as well. This transcription is by Stephen Aron and is much better than the version I first encountered. . He has transcribed all of Chopin's Mazurkas for guitar! Tarrega also did a transcription of this as well as several other pieces by Chopin. The Raindrop Prelude, op. 28.15 which I submitted for the Romantic Challenge was by Tarrega.
