Marilyn Blodget So great to have side by side the piano and guitar versions. As much as I like the guitar version, for me the piano original is superior. Your playing on both versions were very delicate and musical. I really enjoyed listening to them both.

Barney Thanks Barney! I played the guitar version first, but I was curious to try out the piano version as well. 4 fingers versus 10. 6 strings vs. 88 keys. Guitar definitely requires more of the performer.

Barney Yes. I bought it at the Ramirez shop in Madrid in 1969. It’s a 1A crafted by M T (Mariano Tezanos Castro).

Granados, Vals Poetico 6
Hi, Tonebase mates! Finally, I got a recording that satisfied me... It was a hard job for me and my e-twin. This Granado's Walz is for piano and we did this version for two guitars. It was not easy to record without a metronome (we have an accelerando in the final of A part) but my e-twin did all the job with software and e-things. Thank you for listening!

Moyses Lopes That was amazing, Moyses. There is so much about your recording that would completely baffle me. Just trying to play all the notes correctly in a single take has me overwhelmed - much less trying to do it again at the same tempo and sync it all together. Bravo.

Thank you Jack Stewart , Dale Needles and Barney ! In fact, it was an amazing learning process, I did 7 takes til to get satisfied. For me, the accelerando at the end of A part is the difficult piece in this puzzle. There are many empty measures, breaths, and suspensions (of course, it is a romantic piece...) to do. I did a take with a metronome but the result was so awful... The solution was to create a 3rd guitar to act as a click track, in that I played every quarter note, expressing the intentions of the suspensions and the accelerando. At the final render, I just mute this 3rd guitar and the result is that. Once more, thank you for listening!

I've had to step back from participation due to some pretty intense pain in my left hand fingers (3 & 4). Too much overuse in recent months have taken a toll. So I am resting and just returning to some "touch" practice (no pressure on the fretboard) and will wait at least a month before applying any pressure. I thought I would send in a performance video I made in 2020 of J.K. Mertz Barden-Klänge - Op. 13: No 3 Sehnsucht. I've attached a tabbed score if anyone is interested. Lot's of great playing here - bravo everyone!
