Kick-Off for "The Romantic Era"
SUPER EXCITED to step into the richest musical periods for classical guitar, the Romantic Era! Together, we will dive into colorful compositions by the likes of Mertz, Regondi and Mertz but surely will include compositions by our all-time-favorites Barrios, Tárrega and many more and might even discover some unknown masters!
Entering the Romantic Era! In this months Community Challenge, we are going to explore the vast beauty of guitar music from the Romantic period! Now is the time to dive into gems of the early romantic guitar repertoire by the likes of Aguado, Regondi, Mertz but also Coste, Tárrega, Sagreras, Barrios and many more! The Romantic Era as unlimited beauty to offer!

Awesome! This has become my favorite era of guitar music to play (and I know that Jack Stewart would say the same ). My brain is already thinking of pieces I want to work on. I might be able to attend the kick-off live.
As for a favorite painting, I will confess general ignorance. Martin's choice is beautiful. I also like "The Ninth Wave" by Ivan Aivazovsky below.

My favorite Romantic artists are Turner (he apparently is considered a Romantic but is also an Impressionist), Friedrich, Millet and probably at the top of my list is Daumier. Daumier is best known for his social and political drawings but he has some wonderful paintings, as well, especially on Don Quixote. The 1st is Third Class Carriage, #2 is Don Quixote and Sancho Pansa and the Dead Mule.
