I live in Farnham in the UK. I've been playing classical guitar on & off for 57 years after playing in a rock band on a homemade guitar! Currently trying to polish the Prelude from Pasaje Abierto by Edin Solis.

Good one! (But for the Labour Party, not so much, frankly!) It's curious that Brian, who is such a brilliant presenter for the BBC, had such an awkward stage presence as a musician. Of course, keyboard players don't get to strut around on stage, so maybe I'm being too harsh in my judgement.

He was pretty lowkey at the keyboard, but you got it right, can't do much at the keyaboard.  can't all be Keith Emerson.   So Brian just did his job well and looked pretty :-).   I would highly recommend the pocast 'The Infinite Monkey Cage' with him and Robin Ince. It's hilarious and SOO enlightening.

Definitely will! I've really enjoyed what I've seen on the BBC. I've even bought one of his books, although I haven't read it yet ...

I am working through Why does E=Mc2, it's fabulous. I have the quantum book also, but the material is so much more weird, like quantum mechanics is, and I can't deal with it yet :-).

I am in Oakland, California. I started classical guitar around 1971 when I was 20 (after 5-6 years of rock). I have had long periods of devoted practice interspersed with equally long periods away from the guitar. I retired in 2020 and joined TB to try to reboot my playing.

I am currently working on (again) Monk-N-Ing by Bogdanovic and my transcription of May Day, #5 in Musical Toys by Gubaidulina. Other pieces that I am trying to maintain are Gilardino's Study #31 (from last week's posting and last months challenge), Brouwer's Tres Apuntes I and various pieces from BWV 996.

    Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Long time on and off player. Started in 1968, proper classical in 1971 and flamenco in 1973. Currently revisiting Albeniz's Asturias and Sor's Etude No.17 (Segovia 20 Studies by Sor), making the effort to recapture them and add some more polish. Guitar has been a serious hobby however my bread and butter career had priority, glad to have more time now and good to have ToneBase at my keyboard!
