Level system
Hi! I find the tonebase level system very useful to plan how to make use of my time, of course, more difficult pieces demand more time.
How do you access the objective difficulty? I have a lot of chamber music to perform, and it would be great to organize them by difficulty.

You are raising a good question that is difficult to answer. When following the level system, recommended pieces are fairly evaluated and is probably a good reference. However, for other pieces of repertoire that are not in the Tonebase library; it is often difficult to find a reliable source. I found that using ''Gemini'' or ''ChatGpt'' can be very useful as long we ask many questions on how the evaluation is made, what are the sources and other examples of simiral pieces.

there isn't really one objective number for difficulty, but you can get close by breaking it into a few axes instead of one score. I'd look at left-hand load (shifts, stretches, barres), right-hand load (arpeggio and tremolo speed, string crossings), and interpretive demand separately. A practical way to start is to pick two or three pieces you already know cold and use them as anchor points, then slot each new piece above or below them on each axis. That usually tells you more about where to spend your time than the level number alone!
