Barney Thank you, playing closer to the soundhole is definitely something I have to consider more, in general.
And yes, if you mean during the descending slurs, I try to snap off these. -

Carlo Martins Hi Carlo , well played .....I believe you have achieved a very good level with this piece...I just sugest you to emphatize the slurs to give more collor to the piece...this etude is full of slurs to play with them......

Carlo Martins this study is shaping well under your fingers Carlo, good work and progress you've done on it! To enhance a bit your overall interpretation I would suggest you to emphasis a bit more on melodic and harmonic tensions, that would add a little more direction and relief, just my 2 cents... bravo!

Thank you all for the very helpful suggestions. I will continue to exercise this piece, trying to add more colour to the slurs and to add emphasis to the melodic and harmonic tensions.

Hello to all Carcassi challengers.....here itis my take on etude Nr25...this etude should be played much faster , as Allegro Brillante.....but i can´t play it so fast without hundreds of mistakes.

JUAN ALONSO Wow! Great job on this tough one, Juan. As you know, it is better to play it slowly at first to get the chord shapes and related "preparation" of right and left hand fingerings ( along with using guide fingers). Then, with solid memorization, gradually increase tempo with good relaxation. I think this Etude 25 just takes more time due to it's many right hand pattern variations along with chord shapes moving all over the Fret board. In short, don't worry about speed at this point. It is sounding great!

JUAN ALONSO very well done! Sounds pretty secure already. As said by others, speed comes after control. You’re definitely on the way to proficiency. This etude demands very high level of guitar technique. Bravo for your performances in this challenge!

Hi all, as this challenges comes to an end, I wonder if the members have tried before something like an open mic, in small groups maybe, to exchange ideas and play at least some tricky passages to get some feedback from our peers. I hope you enjoyed this challenge as much as I did.

Carlo Martins Hi Carlo. That's a great idea. I don't know how it could be arranged but something like a weekly/monthly Zoom meeting where people can get together to exchange ideas as you say.

Thank you, Derek and Blaise Laflamme for the replies. I don't know how this would work in terms of time shifts, for we have people from all around the world. Maybe 'regional' open mics? Do you think we can use Google Meet for this purpose (I reckon we could get a maximum 1-hour call)?

I didn't realise we were in week 6 - I've just posted this in Week 5 and then tried to post it in week 6 but I clicked on Week 6 of the wrong challenge! One day I'll get something right!. I set off practising no 17 with good intentions and although I have been practising it I didn't get round to posting a video. so here is one that I managed to fdo today. Not as good as I would have liked but I will keep working on this.

Derek That was really impressive, Derek. that sounds, looks like a very challenging piece but you have much of it under control. Great job. I especially like your having Bob Dylan sit on harmonica.

Jack Stewart Thank you Jack. I think it probably sounds as though it is harder than it is. Although there are a couple of tricky bits (some of which are where I hesitated) it mainly fits well under the fingers. The poster is a bit of a mystery ((it's partly hidden but he's actually smoking a cigarette not playing the harmonica - that would have been too cool!). I found it at my mother in laws house after she passed away. I can't see it being hers particularly as in our early days I took a Dylan LP and a Pink Floyd LP to play to my wife to be and the mother in law hated both of them!.It wasn't my wife's poster and my brother in law said he'd never seen it before so I have no idea who it originally belonged to. Anyway, I claimed it and ordered a frame to fit it. I need to get something else to fit along side it for future videos :-)
