I just found this transcription by Kevin Gallagher.  Sorry for the late submission, but wanted to do something for this event.  I always liked the way Josh Grobin sang this song.  This is not fully learned/memorized, so it's sightread.  Hope it's okay for this watch party.

Eric Phillips Thanks Eric!  Yeah, it looks like he has some nice arrangements (not virtuoso level) from his Christmas album, that are probably fun to play (and free).  Enjoy!

  • Silent Night and The First Noel (arr. Gallagher)

Barney (above) inspired me to check out Kevin Gallagher's arrangements of a few Christmas songs. They are pretty straightforward, but very high quality (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6f4vs2p2ai3y6rs/AACwt2lqEO7wWVpZvDRwsdwEa?dl=0).

I played his arrangement of Silent night in its entirety, but I only did the first variation of The First Noel (no Second Noel for you! 😁).

Eric Phillips Nice Eric!  Nice sound and well balanced harmonies.  Sometimes the simple stuff really does the job and communicates the message, like you just did.  Glad to enjoyed them.  I certainly did, thanks!!

Eric Phillips great, as always, Eric. I don't know how you have the time to practise all of the pieces you play and do them so well

I posted an arrangement of Bach's famous chorale prelude BWV 645 Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme ("sleepers awake") exactly 2 weeks ago in the piano challenge and my idea had been to do the same piece on guitar and got the David Russell arrangement only to realize it was way too hard for my current level and I didn't have enough time to practice.

I decided to post at least the first theme as I worked on it all week but it's a tough a piece for me.  It's a lovely arrangement, though, and there are some great performances on yt.  I put a capo on the 1st fret so it matches the same key as the piano version.

I was so glad to discover tonebase this year and looking forward to another year of learning and sharing with everyone

    🎄Happy Holidays and new year!🎄

    • Brett Gilbert it looks difficult really ! for me also. It is great you can play the same piece in two instruments!! thanks for sharing that.

I am also happy with this group of amateurs musicians, very nice people and to share music with you all is a pleasure. Thanks to Tonebase, a great initiative!

      Feliz Navidad and happy 2022!

    • Brett Gilbert Really good playing,  Brett! All that counterpoint is very difficult to pull off. Your playing has improved so much and so quickly.

I’m very grateful to be part of this community as well, to have the opportunity to share our love of the guitar and its music.

Thanks Nora Torres-Nagel , been enjoying your videos as well.  I always learn something from watching more experienced guitarists like you.  The Villancico you are working on sounds lovely.
