Prelude BWV 997

Hi Tonebase community, I recently have been working on the first section of this great piece--the prelude from BWV 997 by JSB. I'm using Tilman Hoppstock's edition through his Prim - Musikverlag. So far I've learned up to measure 17, which is were the opening phrases begin to repeat in the dominant tonality.

It's not easy! I'm taking it slow and I've realized I will have to refine the coordination of my hands and relaxation of the body to make this work. BTW, if anyone know's how to make quick videos with relatively good sound quality I'm all ears. If I can do that I'll post a video soon. Cheers and Merry Christmas:)

  • Great piece, John. I look forward to hearing you play it. For quick recordings (which is all I do), I simply use the camera that came on my laptop. I have a $40 USB microphone that I bought at Walmart, since the built-in mic is really rather poor. It is called a Samson Go Mic (see picture below). It doesn't sound professional, but I think it's fine for the purpose of this platform.

Hey Eric, thanks for the tip. I'll upload a video when I have all the equipment and enough time.
