  • Experiment with reverb

As most of you know, I am not very good when it comes to technology and creating a good sounding video. This morning, I figured out how to add some reverb (it took me about an hour to figure it out!). Here is my video of Tarrega's Adelita, but this time with some reverb added. If you don't mind, could you let me know how you think it sounds? Is it too much?

    • Blaise Laflamme Thanks for the input, Blaise. I actually have no idea how to change those other two things, but I can try. I don't even know what compression is.

Eric Phillips That sounds great! How did you add the reverb? 🤓

    • Martin Thanks, Martin. I used Audacity. It was not easy as my video and audio are all linked, so I had to separate the audio, add the reverb, then sync it back up with the video again. It was cumbersome and took me over an hour.

I've watched your livestreams about recording several times, but frankly, I just get lost and stuck on things I don't understand that are probably obvious to most people. I find that figuring it all out is just so frustrating and time consuming, and I often end up angry because I could have used that time to play music. But if I can figure out how to add some reverb quickly to things, I might make that part of my video-making routine. If not, I'll probably just go back to my old way.

    • Blaise Laflamme Thanks for subscribing! You have a solid facility for the music of Paganini! The second movement of the Sonata is the Romanza. Drew Henderson recorded a nice performance of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUp3Pc2se5k&t=11s

    • Rick Lord thanks for your appreciation Rick, at least I have strong opinions about this style of music that help me. This 2nd movement is a beautiful one and Drew Henderson is just an amazing guitarist and sound engineer, I definitely should take a look at this sonata.

Eric Phillips wow, this is Eric 2.0, sounds very good! I also don't know how to add reverb naturally and effectively, next time I will try Audacity, thanks for the tip.
