Giuliani R.H. Study No. 112 re: Steve Goss: Unequal Music - The Long and Short of it

Last night, I watched the excellent discussion:  "Steve Goss: Unequal Music - The Long and Short of it", and today, I encountered to Giuliani's right hand exercise No. 112 - talk about synchronicity!

In this exercise there are triplets under a dotted 8th - 16th figure.  I'm curious how you all interpret this ("polyrhythmically" vs. synchonized) as well as what people think Giuliani's intent was.

If you haven't watched the video, check it out, it is very interesting!

Hi Stuart, thank you for that excellent example! I personally would vouch for a synchronization of the triplets and the dotted notes (although I would have played it the way it was written before I had hosted the livestream with Steve 🧙‍♂️).

When even the piano is full of synchronized conventions where players have two hands at their disposal, I think the right hand technique in classical guitar esp. in a set of studies would go for a synchronized approach!

    • Martin Thanks for the reply!  I agree, although as it is a study I suppose it is worth practicing it both ways.  I suppose in this example it would make sense to have the upper voices conform to the lower rhythm to continue the flow from the previous measure, but "swinging" the triplet might also be an option.  Anyway, thanks again for the reply, and also for the excellent content your are creating.  Cheers!
