Live Lesson: Sonatina by Moreno-Torroba (Apr 14) Questions / Suggestions

Alright everyone - you've been requesting it, so here we are!  Can't wait to do a live lesson on one of my all-time favorite pieces in the world!

We are talking about Moreno-Torroba's Sonatina, the amazing three-movement solo work that accompanied Segovia all around the world as he was breaking new ground playing classical guitar in places nobody played it ever before him!

Over the course of the past 100 years, so many great musicians performed, analyzed and loved this piece, but did you know that it was actually one of the first works written for the guitar by a modern non-guitarist composer?

That's right - we hear all this talk about how Manuel de Falla's Homenaje Pour le Tombeau de Debussy was the guitar's first modern-era work written by a non-guitarist composer, but in reality, the Sonatina might have come before it! Tune in to hear more

Join tonebase instructor Mircea Gogoncea for a live lesson on Moreno-Torroba's Sonatina, a masterpiece of the solo guitar literature of underestimated historical importance. Written in 1924, at around the same time as De Falla's Homenaje for Debussy, the three-movement work represents one of the modern era's first classical guitar works written by a non-guitarist composer. It achieved worldwide acclaim through its inclusion in Andres Segovia's early touring repertoire and to this day, its popularity has never waned.
