🎸🎧What lessons or courses would you like to see on tonebase that aren’t there yet? 🎸🎧

Hey tonebuddies,

Let me know in the comments what courses or lessons you'd like to see that aren't on the platform (yet!).

This could be guitar basics, repertoire, anything!

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

    This is a big one…

I’d like to see Tonebase offer an accredited online conservatory degree, like Berklee, but for classical guitar.

I am not sure this would add much value to ToneBase. However, They could certainly align the existing level system to match a recognize program like Berklee or the RCM

Debbie I don't think this would be possible, Debbie. ToneBase could certainly offer a certificate of achievement of some kind (at least one of its online competitors does just that) but I can't see that it would be recognized in the larger world as something meaningful. Besides, there are already a number of established institutions (ABRSM, RCM and others) that offer formal accreditation for 'remote' learners of classical guitar. In my view,, it makes good sense for ToneBase to be aimed at a different audience.

If Tonebase can invite Mr. Nicola Pignatiello to make a course about how to practice Partimento on guitar, it would be my little dream come true. 🙏

  • Earlier this week, we had an excellent workshop with Ashley  ''Fire up your hands like a Flamenco!''.

This could certainly be the subject of a formal course that would include all scores, tabs and workbooks.

    • Andre Bernier I agree  It provides more diversity ( to use a current word). all these variations in technique of  playing will certainly improve over all playing and open new pieces to play.

I'm not sure how great the demand would be, but if there is sufficient interest, it would be nice to have a series of videos that focus on historical instruments - the lute and the early guitar in their various forms. (There are already a number of excellent videos on the repertoire for these instruments, but they are not aimed at those actually trying to learn the instruments in question.)

What can I do to get my left hand M and A fingers to separate them more when they come to the fretboard?

  • I think to have some kind of path for ear training would be nice. My next idea you actually  thought about a few days ago, the livestream "Introduction to Harmonic Score Analysis". If possible, that could be a longer course.

I would like to see a harmonic analysis course that covers the fundamental theory and analysis of some “classical” pieces as examples. I know there will be a live event on this topic soon, but I feel this can be developed into a full course.

Also, some videos on classical guitar with other instruments would be great too, like introducing guitar/violin (or flute, piano, etc.) duets.
    Just me 2cents. Thanks!

  • Frankly, I can't get enough of anything featuring (not in any order) Carlos Bonell, Alfredo Escande, Steve Goss, Stanley Yates or Ricardo Iznaola. oh! and the application of Baroque ornamentation (a revisit by Stanley Yates, perhaps?)

  • I've been waiting for a post like this🙂. Can we have a few masterclasses and perhaps some Q&As, especially aimed at beginners/intermediate levels on topics like LH and RH technique, choosing etudes and repertoire for appropriate skill levels etc.

I've greatly enjoyed and learned immensely from the already available resources. However, as someone who joined only a few months back, I feel a sense of envy 🙂 and missing out on some of those early interactive sessions of 2020 and 2021. I think it'd be great to revive some interactive sessions through which members can get feedback from professional guitarists.
