Week 4: Resurrected Rhythms: Celebrating Revived Pieces!
Welcome to the Main Thread for the last week of "Unfinished Business" practice challenge!
- Choose an piece that you have started to practice but never fully commited to finish. It could be a an iconic masterpiece, a technical challenge, a sweet little miniature or a piece that you played a long time ago and always wanted to refresh! You're encouraged to experiment with pieces from composers you're not accustomed to or push your boundaries with a technically demanding work.
- Commit to regular practice and share your journey with the community. Aim to practice daily and upload at least two videos per week to showcase your progress. This will not only aid in keeping you dedicated and motivated but also enables you to share your musical journey with our tonebase family.
- Share your favorite piece or recording that you always wanted to learnm but is still "unfinished business". Your submission will serve as inspiration for others and construct a vibrant repertoire of potential pieces for fellow members to explore.

Here is the complete version of Carlevaro's "Capricho" from his "Introduccion y Capricho." Still needs a little work but it is close. Also, I need to add the "Introduccion" which I will do in August and post the complete piece in the Carlevaro Discussion Forum later in the month. "Introduccion y Capricho" was published in 1983 by Chanterelle and is to be played "espressivo y rubato."

Barney Thanks, Barney. I am pretty pleased with the post and now it needs just a little refinement and record it in its entirety with the Introduccion which makes it a 7 minute piece.

Dale Needles it is definitely coming together now. I notice you played it in ponti position for most of the Carlevaro's pieces, are they written this way? The ponti sounds plays into creating this strong dissonances of the piece. Beautifully done!

don Thanks, Don. One of my goals when playing Carlevaro's music is to instill it with a wide range of tone color. Additionally, I find that playing with a clear timbre suits his music and helps bring out the dissonance.

For this challengeI memorized the second movement (Andante Religioso) of La Catedral. I tried to paint the melody horizontally and focused on phrasing.

Barney Beautiful, Barney! I don't know that I have ever heard this one before. I recognize the snippet of melody from an earlier one in the set, but other than that, it is unfamiliar. I really love the material at the beginning and end.

Here is Vals #8 and Melodico ending. I was rushing to get this one done and posted; so sorry for the silly mistakes. My goal was to work on all the Valses in this set to establish a base to improve upon. In retrospect, it was a little too much in this short period, since not enough time spent on each one. However, I don't regret doing this project, since I've at least learned most of the notes, etc for each one.
