Always a week behind... posted in the wrong one, lol. Landslag VIII. This one reminds me a lot of the minimalist works that first drew me to classical music. Definitely challenging to read even though it's only 6 notes.

Blaise Laflamme Thanks Blaise. My only regret with the video is that it is such a joyful piece but because it's so challenging for me to read, I look like I just encountered a difficult tax problem.

Andre Bernier Thanks Andre. I really appreciate it. I wasn't using a metronome for this but I practice with one quite a bit.

Steve Price Thanks Steve for the answer. Your regular practice with metronome is definitively paying off in this performance.

Steve Price haha... you look focused! That's why I prefer for myself to play out of memory, when reading I tend to move too much (both body and face and it's out of my control) as it probably helps me express my intentions through the music, on the other hand when playing out of memory I look more focused but my intentions are more clear and the music more expressive

Rick Lord Thanks Rick. That really means a lot.
Also, I was glad to read about your RSI being manageable. It served as a timely cautionary tale for me since I've been dealing with some right elbow pain for about a month which I never tied to guitar playing. I'm pretty active and figured it was something else I'd done. But it finally occurred to me it started about the time I started increasing my playing time for some of these Tonebase and other projects. After having a consult it looks like Lateral Epicondylitis aka Tennis Elbow. I'll be dialing the time spent back for a bit since I definitely prefer that to putting it down completely. Again, happy you're on the right track, especially without surgery.

Stefanie Mosburger-Dalz Haha, yes. If I stumbled a little bit the whole thing would fall apart so I had to read a full measure ahead. I'm not great at reading so I look very serious. I need to learn to look less mean because I definitely enjoy playing and I'm really a happy guy, lol. Thanks for listening and for your feedback.

Moyses Lopes Obrigado, Moyses. It's such a fun piece to play and a good exercise in reading for me. It's almost like a percussion piece with so few notes (6) and the poly-rhythms.

Working on Landslog No.8
I had to start this one just with the right hand super slowly with any chords just to get the 3/2 rhythm going. Now just need to get more familiar with it so I can better prepare my left hand for the next chord change. Also gets a bit tricky when the right thumb is hopping over multiple strings.

Andrew Gray This is great Andrew! Nice job. I think you're right that the difficulty jumps up when the bass starts alternating with the big jumps. There are a few places where a note repeats that make me stumble too. Really a great piece and well played.

Andrew Gray Bravo Andrew, this is sounding great!! You have a very good control over the voicing and chord transitions Looks like you're using carbon trebles, which one?

Week 3 - Time flies
I did practice Landslög I - a few times a day over the last week. I am now able to play out of memory and progressively increase the tempo to 120 bpm from 85 bpm last week. Finally, I was able to put both hands in the camera image....
Here is take 2

Andre Bernier great progress you've done, you're definitely on the right track. Practice slowly everyday and build over the work you've done before is definitely a great strategy for secure progress All that video stuff is not always easy, lots of thing to think about and it's hard to monitor yourself as you perform.
