Hi, Tonebase mates! That's my contribution to this challenge. I listened to a lot of wonderful postings and all of them were so inspiring! I choose the number IX, but for sure I will study many of them later. Thank you all for your rich contribution!

PS: I recorded in a brand new studio called The Kitchen... 😂

  Moyses Lopes The Azores really were amazing. For a small island there was a lot to do and I've never found seafood like that since. We spent two years there so we knew a fair bit of the language but it's been too long. I can recognize a lot of it but the words don't come to mind when I try to speak it.
  
  My first guitar teacher, Victor Castro, did the opposite of you and went from Portugal to Brazil and I understand he's doing well for himself there.

After working through some of the Landslög, I was looking into other compositions by Gulli Björnsson. This is Lóndrangar which is named for a set of basalt cliffs on the coast. Really a nice piece I thought and a beautiful location.

  joosje Thanks so much, Joosje. I appreciate it. The place has always fascinated me but I haven't been yet. My wife and I have been planning an extended trip and I've even been learning Icelandic off and on for a couple of years (a lot of fun but a bit challenging), but some things came up that are keeping us from traveling for the time being. Such is life. We'll get there eventually.

Well it looks like it is already finished. This was a great experience for me and thanks to all for your support and help.

Here is my final take (3) on Landslög I - after a month of practice.

This is far than prefect but as a beginner, I am fairly proud of the result.

Also, I just put a new set of strings

D'Addario XTC45FF. They sound like steel and produce a lot of squeaks (with right hand fingers)

Do you have any suggestions of different strings I could use?

  Andre Bernier bravo Andre for you dedication on this piece during the challenge, what a progress since your first take! As for strings you can use anything you like the sound and feel, I'm not a big fan of Daddario strings, they are great and have a good intonation and uniform sound but I find it hard to express myself on them. I didn't liked the XTC basses when I tried them once and prefer the Dynacore basses coupled with the carbon trebles. As for carbon trebles you'll get a clear and somehow metallic sound out of them depending on your guitar. There is a lot of brands you can try... Aquila, Augustine, Savarez, Hannabach, Knobloch, LaBella... just to name a few 😅

  Andre Bernier Bravo, Andre. I'm a hobbyist like yourself, but I really think you should be proud of this one. You'll find that just because something is called a set of "progressive" exercises, it doesn't mean it covers the whole range of skills starting at beginner. If you look at any examination board's grading like the Royal College of Music I don't think you find anything like Landslog 1 rated as a grade 1 piece. A piece in 9/8 with some odd stretches where playing it cleanly and steadily is critical like you've done here is definitely not beginner material so you should be proud of this one.

  Andre Bernier Great job, Andre! Bravo! As Blaise Laflamme said, it was a great work since your first take you recorded. I used to use Daddario for a long time but - again - I agree with Blaise, it's quite complicated to get some intonation with them. Thanks for sharing, see you in the next challenge!

This would be like week 5! … I intended to record IV when the challenge started so i have done it. Needs work, difficult for me to learn the pattern. enjoyed the challenge, thanks all who participated and tb.
