We all know and appreciate the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most influential composers in the Baroque period. His music continues to inspire musicians and audiences alike. In celebration of his contributions to the world of music and the exciting live stream with multiple DG recording artist Göran Söllscher, we're excited to announce a "Bach Mini Challenge" for our community!
The Challenge:
We invite you to record and upload a video of yourself playing a piece composed by J.S. Bach. Choose! We're eager to see your unique interpretations and skillful renditions of Bach's timeless masterpieces.

How to participate:
Record a video of yourself performing a piece by J.S. Bach.
Upload your video to your preferred platform (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).

Eric Phillips Thank you very much Eric! My version was inspired by cello version in tempo and phrasing. I tried to do my best although on the guitar is very hard to render the clarity of this music. Next week i’ll publish some other movement of this wonderful suite

Prelude (from BWV 998)
I love this one being peaceful and emphasizing the Bach’s motive of three (and more importantly - not as difficult as Fuga and Allegro). I like the D major with dropped 6=D resonating well with a classical guitar.

Joseph Lee very nicely played, I love this piece too . Do you have a recommendation for a specific transcription for guitar? Also what are some of the challenges that you meet when practicing it?

I am not sure when I can try Fugue as it is more intensive and challenging with many aspects. Thanks for your comment!

I recommend Frank Koonce’s version but I came up with my own fingering instead of following others. Definitely this is one of the challenging parts. I suggest you will need to find your fingering more convincing to you.
Another aspect to consider (in my opinion) is phrasing. You will find lessons and tips (including Tonebase) how this piece can be played with being broken into small phrases/segments. I am not a Baroque master, so I tried to listen/understand other master’s phrasing and to imitate styles I like.
