    • Section you worked on: First Section, up until bar 73
    • One thing you found easy: Repeating over and over again, the piece is really addictive to play! The long harmonic cycle kept turning inside my head over and over again. The mood change in bar 55 is really easy to accentuate as the upper register starts to sing on its own!
    • One thing you found difficult: Although it's stuck in my head I am just not able to play it by heart! Probably because I haven't found time to practice enough this week, hopefully next week will be better (I am learning this piece together with you by the way!). Moreover, my right hand is not set yet, I should really commit myself to a fingering in order to gain security!

I look forward to explore the next section with you 🧙‍♂️

martin wonderful Martin! I wish I could play it with that much confidence. Your trills are the best!

As I mentioned before, I am experimenting with the octave changes  related to the manuscript. Here is a trial version. Also, I used the capo in II.

... And, ooh my, I had such a bad hair day, so you get only the sound in mp3 😉

joosje wow - you put so much energy in studying the piece 👍. Reading in the Manuskript is really a challenge. Why did they write everything upside down 😫

joosje that's beautiful Joosje. Played with expression and sounds really secure. Everyday is a bad hair day in my house :-)

What seemed impossible, became possible so I am  happy... I have practiced up to measure 61. I hope I can finish on time for tomorrow's second class. The hardest bit so far is the mordent in measure 28, I keep touching the first string.  still practicing the rasgueado to make it sound smoother and bouncier. Nothing really easy but I would say that through practice I see I can do it...

    • Emma it is not easy but also not impossible if you practice hard. Keep on, and share with us. Looking forward to see your performance.

I made it up to the section Martin gave us to practice m73

What was easy? The introduction with the chords.
    What was hard? Everything else!

Debbie yeah, Cross Trill Time! Awesome job, Debbie, I loved the intimacy of the falling sequence from bar 44 onward!

  • This is not the first section lol but I got a rough copy of the final variation 16th notes section with Campanella scales. It’s very fun to play but difficult with right hand fingering. I apologize for the poor quality I’m at work and only have a Yamaha silent guitar with loud air purifiers running

David very nice David. I look forward to hearing it when you can record it in a better environment but I got enough of an impression to tell that it’s well played. I love campanella scales. They sound so beautiful.

David Chidsey Wow, this is super impressive, congratulations! This passage always freaks me out, because usually we are able to play more virtuoso than a baroque guitar, but the octaved strings really come in handy in this passage! Vey well done 🙌
