Here is my current status on Study #6. These studies, with their modern tonality, are more difficult for me to commit to muscle memory, and therefore require more time to perform without errors at suggested tempo. They are really cool, so wanted to try a few from the second half of the set. So out of time to work more on this one. On to the next...?

Barney yes for the current Koshkin session I'm using a stereo ribbon in fixed Blumlein + a Rode NT4 stereo cardioid in fixed X/Y.

Barney Great to hear you recording these more advanced studies. Sounds great. Had a technical question: which FX are using to get the "reverb" effect in reaper? The number of FXs is a bit overwhelming, I was hoping to find something to simulate being in a larger room or small concert hall.

I have finally finished up Study #1 with reduced (not eliminated) squeaks and added dynamics and rubato. Although I can play it at the suggested tempo I prefer the sound a bit slower, around 76 or so. I've grown to really like the piece and I will keep playing it. Now, on to #2. I have worked out some fingerings and am working to get the somewhat unfamiliar chord shapes under my fingers. I truly wish I had more time to play these, but the demands of my ensemble music limit that a bit. These are great studies, though, and I plan to work through as many as my abilities allow.

Emma Excellent, Emma! You maintained a good moving tempo throughout, even in the trickier spots. I found myself slowing down at spots with this one (without wanting to).

Emma Thanks for posting #3, it sounds great. Very smooth and you kept the brisk tempo. I just started working on this and it's tough (for me), but nice to see it so played so well. I saw your earlier post about some of the initial difficulties which I'll watch out for.

My goal was to play it a tempo as I struggle with speed. I was having trouble to memorise this one so the recording was a bit more shaky that it should have been but I think I need to move on, no 4 and possible 5?

Emma this study is definitely hard to play at the suggested tempo, fingers don't follow up your mind as it speeds up. I agree with #4 and #5, two beautiful studies!

Study 6 Update
Here's where I'm at after today's practice session. The tempo is up a bit, and I feel a little more controlled. The same sections are still my weak spots (measures 5-11 and 21-22) but maybe they are a little improved. Sorry the lighting is rather poor.

Eric Phillips great achievement, Eric. Really wonderful sound and energy. I like your coloring and timing.. congratulations If I’m allowed one remark: in m 1-2 and at the end you play the chords on beat 3 and 4 both staccato. I have a feeling they d contrast more with a short-long effect.
I also played the (arpeggiated) chords in M 12-15/23-26 first with p, but a rasgueado, like Marina does, sounds good too
