Gran Vals

8 Dec

Decided not to do anything new for the remaining of the year. Recently when I revisited Valseana months after playing it, I got a realization that sometimes it is better to learn a piece maybe to 60-70% of what your ears want then move on. Revisit it months later when my understanding deepens and technique improved.

So gonna revisit this. Gran Vals is the second piece I learn this year. Couldn't get section B and D right to tempo especially the slurs at the high F sharp.

My solution is to play slowly and softly to achieve a light and playful phrasing.

    11 Dec:

    Short term objectives:

Section A: Trying not to short change the middle notes which i tend to do whenever my mind slip.

Section B: Need to work on the trills better and overall flow.
