New Repertoire
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for new, interesting, fascinating, really good, well-composed, wonderful repertoire for the guitar.
Oooh dear, those are some high expectations 
. But basically I'd like to find repertoire that's a bit further removed from the Classical/Romantic (or jazz) style repertoire that I see so much of for the guitar, something that uses the guitar in interesting ways. I'd like to find it both for playing and for studying from a composition point of view. Both shorter, miniature pieces longer, more substantial pieces.
Any suggestions??

I recently heard Rene Bartoli Audabe. Don't let the age of the video dissuade you, I agree it's one pixel away from being a radio signal. The sound of the guitar is amazing considering.

Probably not what you have in mind, but there's a lot of innovation in the 'fingerstyle' guitar world. It's worth checking out if you're not already familiar with it. (Not everything would work well on nylon strings, but some of the ideas might be adaptable.) To give a few random examples:

George Michael is definitely not my thing, but the techniques Alexandr Misko are cool, and it seemed well crafted. I like how he coordinates very clearly at least three levels of music (tune, percussion, varying accompaniment...). The percussion he uses is effective too - I'd be scared to use my tuning machines too much though... Interesting that he and John Butler use nails on steel. John Butler should take better care of his guitar though... obviously played it by the ocean too much :)

Roni Glaser I'm not a great fan of '80s BritRock myself, although I do find it has a certain nostalgic appeal ... But my interest here is the way in which guitarists like Alexandr Misko have extended the technical resources of their (our?) instrument, in this case to recreate the sound world of highly synthesized 'Pop'. (I find this somewhat analogous to what 16th c. lutenists were doing in their own (often virtuosic) arrangements of renaissance vocal music.) We classical guitarists are apparently a less adventurous lot: we seem happy to leave it to composers to invent new ways of playing. Surely not a healthy state of affairs!
By the way, when it comes to beating up guitars, John Butler has nothing on Willie Nelson:

David Ah yes! The guitar with as many wrinkles as he has and the extra "sound port" on the front ;) But somehow he's managed to play it for so long. That was Kris Kristofferson wasn't it???
I think it's a general trend in modern classical musicians to leave the thinking of new stuff to the composers. In that respect it's very interesting and valuable to have these other similar instruments and styles that we can learn from.

Hi all, sorry to do this, bit i can't figure out how to create a post in tonebase, and figured that this was the most relevant string to what I'm looking for:. I'm looking for some nice classical guitar arrangements (beginner/low intermediate) for Christmas songs. With COVID this year, I'd like to play a little zoom concert for my immediate family, so want to start practicing now. Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas!
