Steve Pederson Great job in the concert, Steve! Furthermore, your guitar sounded particularly good. (Even Dominic noted that in the chat.) For many of the participants (especially the violinists) the sound at my end was so distorted that it was difficult to appreciate what they playing. (Which is a pity, because I have the impression that they (the violinists) were pretty good!) Anyhow, I was certainly able to enjoy your Bach!

David Krupka Thanks so much David. I sincerely appreciate any positive feedback I can get. It can be very frustrating working so hard on a piece and then performance anxiety diminishes it considerably. I'm glad I at least had the audio portion figured out. That's why I double-checked with Martin at the beginning to make sure I had my settings right. I think that's mainly the problem. I think several of the players did not have their audio settings configured correctly and unfortunately it effected their audio. Thanks again, though, for the positive feedback.

Steve Pederson I certainly know what you mean about nerves in performance: somehow, little mistakes creep into our playing, no matter how well prepared we are. But I think the performer is more acutely aware of these than the audience is. In the end, it's the overall impression that matters, not the tiny details. (I'm reminded of those insecure teens who fret because they've discovered a small blemish of some kind - no on else notices!) Anyhow, I enjoyed your performance, and not only because I could actually hear it! By the way did I understand you right at the very end - a 'Hauser' flying V? Didn't Segovia play one of those!? 😂

David Krupka That's a great point - about it being about the overall impression rather than the little details. I always say, "All's well that ends well", and I'd have to say I was happy with the finish. Yes, I believe Segovia played a Hauser Flying V on one of his albums! 😄

      Thanks again!

Robert Thank you Robert! I really appreciate that! I was wondering if you felt nervous at all. You didn't look like it. You sounded great and you played wonderfully!

martin Thanks again, Martin, for organizing this wonderful, beautiful community concert with guitar, violin and piano. A great event!
I would like to get the link, too.
I wish you a Merry Christmas, eine schöne Weihnachtszeit! 🎅

btw: I realized, that there is a label "NULL" right of my name. Earlier, I had a different label, like participant of recording course or challenge participant or sth like that, I do not remember exactly. It is not really important, but I was wondering about the NULL.

Robert I enjoyed your performance of the Brouwer piece, Robert! I think your habit of just sitting down and recording yourself 'cold' really paid off in the concert. Too bad you didn't get to play Montemayor as well - I think in retrospect there was plenty of time.

I've noticed the 'null' descriptor beside some names as well - apparently, we've been demoted!! (Or worse - 'cancelled'!)

David Krupka David, thank you so much for your motivating words! Yes, I would have loved to play Montemayor (< 2 minutes), too. But I will keep it "fresh" for future opportunities for performing it, maybe together with other "Castles of Spain". Or maybe a piece by Barrios or Ponce. Aaaaah, there are so many beautiful pieces...!!!
During the preparation for the concert I again realized how important the self recording is, in many aspects. Focus, breathing, relaxation, mindset, managing nervous fingers etc. And it helped me yesterday. But I forgot one thing: I had cold fingers (should have used the Glenn Gould's procedure before a concert: using very very hot water for warming or heating up fingers 😉), an aspect I did not think of before. Because in previous recording situations, I warmed up a few minutes. I did this yesterday, too, before the beginning of the concert, but then during listening to the first players my fingers cooled down a lot. 🥶 Lesson learned: next time in winter I will wearing gloves while waiting 🙂
Maybe the "NULL" is the temperature indicator of the fingers.

I liked the setting of having violin and piano in the concert. Really nice and so interesting, and the level was so high, in all instrument categories.

I very much look forward to future events.

Merry Christmas to you, David, and to all other community members here and the tonebase staff.

Typically how long does it take for a link to a recorded live event take to get posted on the website?

  • First of all, many thanks for organizing this concert. It was great we could hear the other instruments, soon also with cello ….

congratulations to all the players,  so many great performances and a wonderful choice of repertoire…. Being the first to play, I could then relax and enjoy even more all other performances. I had such a happy Saturday evening….

Martin, I would also like to receive the link to the zoom recording.

To everyone in this forum: enjoy the festive period, wherever you are and I wish you happy new year with lots of fine music!
